As long as there's a little ice cream it's fine, and that one looks to me like there's ice cream around those berries, so that cover works. (We won't debate ice cream vs frozen yogurt etc.) :)
Enjoy!

Thanks!"
Pluralized would be fine, since it doesn't change the meaning.

[bookcover:Watching Baseball Smarter: A Professional Fan's Guide for Beginners, Semi-experts, and Deeply..."
Yes, it's clearly a baseball. It's much more artsy to show a close-up, I guess. Enjoy. :)

Thanks!"
Verified as "Classic" genre, pre-1956. Georgette Heyer - enjoy!!

Fireflies are tiny on GR page, but can be seen on Amazon page:

I'd prefer Firefly Beach but they just show a white glowing dot.

Thoughts?
Thanks!

Peyton Place"
The description says it was first published in 1956, so I checked WorldCat and several other sources. They all agree it first appeared in '56, not '55, so unless that changes it won't work. Sorry.

Hmmmm .... the little grey notation in Goodreads says "first published 1955" .... That's what I always go by, so that should probably be fixed

Yes, according to the info I've found that's wrong. I can fix it, I just didn't want to change it while we were still discussing the issue. It seemed kind of underhanded. :)

Thanks, Teri .... I have plenty of classics to read so this isn't an issue for me ... this one's been on my tbr for ages and I thought I could squeeze it in this round (there's always 5.10)

We're going to accept all three of these. Please mention when you post for points that the cover was approved for this task on the help thread in post #22.
Since the titles refer to fireflies there's no reason to suppose they aren't, so they're OK.
For the second book you need to submit the title that goes with the edition you actually read. That's true for all cover tasks unless otherwise instructed. So be sure you link to the right edition when you post your points. And get any e-book only titles verified for length.
Otherwise - enjoy!

True Grit"
True Grit is approved for Option 3. It's been years since I read it but I really liked it. I hope you do, too.

I read it a couple of years ago, but I'm going to re-read it for my F2F book club.

The Wall for option 3"
Both of those work. The Wall made me cry like a baby, which I rarely do with books. Well worth reading!

About editions in other languages the rules say "Any task requiring a specific title (number of letters, number of words, specific word in title, etc.) should apply to the title that you use." So the means it works.
Enjoy your book.

I honestly can't tell if that's a popsicle or ice cream. So we're going to allow it, and alter the description in the task to include frozen novelty desserts, or something like that. :)
Approved for Option 2.

Option 3: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen"
Both of those are fine. I'm thinking or rereading P&P myself this time. :)

Great, thanks!

Another, that I've been wanting to read (ok, remember, I like nonfiction!) is Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania. All the letters of SAUNA are in Lusitanita.

Non-fiction is awesome! And now we know anything with Lusitania in the title will work.
Thanks for sharing. :)

Yes, all the letters are there.

Perfect for ice cream. I thought it was a fun story, too. :)

I love the classics! I know not everyone does, so I'm glad that you're enjoying the little push from these challenges. :)
Like you I'm torn between an old favorite or something "new". Let me know what you decide on.

Glad you like the task. :)
Shoelesss Joe is on my TBR list. I almost read it last time but went with a different baseball themed book instead.
I remember seeing an old Masterpiece Theater version of Poldark. I hope you like it.

Cry, the Beloved Country - originally published 1948 and has CLASSICS genre

I posted in the "ANyone with Librarian status" thread regarding
True Grit (previously approved for Option 3)
I listened to the audio and during the afterword it is specifically stated that this book was first published in 1968. I checked Wikipedia and WorldCat and both site 1968. That's 16 years AFTER the currently stated 1952 date on Goodreads.
Fortunately it's early in the challenge and there are several places I can use the book. So I'm going to use something else for THIS task, and have asked that the librarians correct the information in Goodreads.
Please take it OFF the approved list.

Thanks for letting me know, and for taking the time to have the record corrected, too. I've taken it off the approved list.
Hopefully you'll find something else good to read. :)

If Not, Winter: Fragments of Sappho

Summertime - everybody loves it, right? Actually, it's my least favorite season. I especially don't like the terribly hot temperatures and high humidity we can get here in the Southern US. But there are a few perks that enable me to survive. This task celebrates the good and bad of Southern summers.
This is a TWO book task. Please choose two different options.
REQUIRED: State which options you chose when you post.
Option 1: At it's worst, summer here means opening my front door to the kind of heat and humidity that makes the outdoors feel like an out-of-control sauna.
For this option, the title and subtitle of the book you read must contain all the letters in SAUNA, including two A's.
Option 2: Summer does have some good points. It's a great excuse for eating ice cream, for one. I also love watching the fireflies rise up in my lawn during the evening. And finally, there's baseball. I can't play, but I sure do love watching it, whether it's little kids hitting off a tee or pros smacking it out of the ball park.
For this task read a book whose cover has ice cream (popsicles or other frozen novelty desserts work, too), a firefly (1 must be lit up), or a baseball uniform, bat, ball, or mitt. (Not all of the object has to be shown, just enough to make it clear what it is. A person doesn't have to be wearing the uniform. A baseball cap alone is not considered a uniform.)
Covers that work:
Covers that don't work:
REQUIRED: Include the cover when you post.
Option 3: Finally, there's something about rising temperatures that makes me want to switch from my usual driving music and head down the highway belting out the songs I sang along to as a girl. I may not play my sound system loud enough to blast anyone, but I do turn it up over the sound of the AC and play lots of good old-fashioned, classic rock-and-roll.
This final option lets you put on some classic rock, or other music of your choice, and read a classic genre book. Because I feel a classic really should be older than I am, it must have been originally published before 1956 as well as have the genre listing "classic(s)", which can be embedded.
