Oxygen discussion

Oxygen gives us life and yet at the same time kills us every time we take a breath ! Organisms within our bodies that we depend on to exist can function without oxygen. Its a fascinating subject and one of the most interesting pop science books I have ever read and believe me I have read plenty over the years !

To be honest, the first time I read it I was a bit disappointed, because I expected the entire book to be about the topic of evolution. I found that the second half of the book was about other things, all related to life, but not in the way I meant. Thus, I loved the first half of the book but I was not as excited to read the second part. On the 2nd reading I changed my mind, because it became clear to me the inner connections that Nick Lane unveil to us.
It is one of the best book I have ever read. Often I find myself looking for a specific chapter, looking for detailed information about the chemistry of life or and oxygen.
I'd like to read also 'Life Ascending - The 10 great inventions of life'.
