I was thinking I'd get the audio version with my Audible credit in March. However, the narration in the sample sounds just awful. I may have to pick up a copy in hardback.
Goocher is a word they used in the 50's and the boys in The Body used it...a LOT! It's just what you call it when something really freaky or weird happens. Like if three people say the same word at the same time. That's a lame definition, but I know a goocher when I see (or hear) one.O_o
Hmm... yeah, I'll just wait for the book. :)
I remember one goocher...you don't light 3 cigarettes on one match. It's pretty much when something weird happens and it's supposed to be bad luck. I wanted to order the audio from River Run, but they told me they didn't think Joe could sign it. Now I don't feel so bad for getting the HC!
Speaking of bad luck, does anyone know why whenever I try to look at the thread that has the pics of the signing my computer freezes up? I have a feeling it has something to do with my computer needing updating. Does anyone have an idea?
Are you using IE6 or below? I think that's what it is... =\ If you use IE7 or Firefox, it shouldn't do that... but I will move the pics to the group photos. :)
Hmm... It's not letting me upload more than one picture. It's saying I cannot upload more than 5, but there is only two! >:(
Okay, that makes sense then re: Sandi's comment....Good to see that I wasn't the crazy one.I have that lockup problem on my work computer sometimes. And it has IE6 loaded. So yes, it might be your browser, Betsy.
I'm right in the middle (dead center) of "Horns" No spoilers, but this is one of the best written books I've encountered since Dan Simmons' "The Terror" - and I loved that one because I've always been fascinated by the subject. "Horns" is indeed unique.
Becky wrote: "Yes, well... *ahem* I was tired. O_o"Hmmm does that mean that everytime someone mentions an audiobook you automatically think of me?
I got my Horns in the mail yesterday. Hope to be starting it this weekend.
So its my fault that anybody who says anything and also mentions an audiobooks is interpreted by you to be me? This could end badly for me. If anybody says 'I hate Becky...audiobook' its not me.
Well if thats my fate. From now on I'll end every comment with audiobook just so you'll never be confused again. Audiobook.
Rachel wrote: "love "I hate Becky...audiobook" :)"Great, Rach! Now she'll think Felina said it again.
I was browsing the new fiction section of the library this morning and they had a copy of this book! I was stunned. Needless to say, I checked it out.
Rob wrote: "So far (I'm on page 100)...I like this a lot. I wasn't quite expecting the extended flashback though. The flashback reminds me a lot of his dad's writing. I actually found the story more interes..."I was up until midnight reading it last night. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. The parts about Ig's childhood are important, but the character you really need to keep an eye on in the flashbacks is Lee.
I'm only about 50 pages in, but man... I can't imagine how heartbreaking it would be to know people's inner-most thoughts about you, especially when they aren't exactly rosy and nice. Poor Ig. :(
I'm a little over halfway now... I caught a reference to Judas Coyne (from HSB) and had to come mention it. Anyone else see it?
Am I the only one that "sees" Jerry and Ig as black? For me, Jerry is the guy that plays Warrick Brown on CSI, and Ig is Don Cheadle. Probably alone on that one.O_o
No... with all the mentions of Ig's goatee, I keep seeing him as a thinning haired version of Joe Hill himself.

Basically, what this means is that this is where those of us that haven't gotten our copy yet can talk smack about those that have read it already.
I saw a copy in Walmart the other day and I had to pick it up and look it over. The blurb sounds really interesting. I wanted to walk out of there with it, but I have it set to deliever from my bookclub in March.
I have debated ordering it on amazon.com and canceling my March order though. What's holding me back is this huge TBR list that I'm trying to knock out in the next month. So I might not have time to get to Horns before my regular shipment anyway.
Truth is, I'd probably knock something else out of the way and fall further behind on other reads, if I had the temptation of a book with devil horns sitting on my night stand.
It's really scary that I'm now showing as having 666 books on my shelves too.
