Oooh I soooooooooo second Magic!
But I'll nominate Fantasy
But I'll nominate Fantasy
I nominate THE FUTURE. Any story set in the future, which would most likely be sci fi, although there are most likely fantasy or sci/fantasy examples too.
ooh and then what would you recommend?
Took a quick look at the feminist sf in my library:The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Dawn by Octavia Butler
Air: Or, Have Not Have by Geoff Ryman
The Gate to Women's Country by Sheri S. Tepper
Short stories by James Tiptree Jr.
All really good reads. You'd probably have to order Tepper and Butler online, but the Atwood is practically a classic, and there's a free e-book available. You can find some of Tiptree's stuff online. 'The Women Men Don't See' and 'Houston, Houston Do You Read' are two of the most famous.
It's been a while since I read some good feminist sf though, I should go and find some new stuff...
There are some links to James Tiptree Jr. short stories at the bottom of the wikipedia page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Ti....I recommend 'The Last Flight of Doctor Ain' as well - brilliant. It's eco, or eco-feminist sci fi.
Thriller, if we do that then I've got an suggestion...
I nominate Regency Romance. But otherwise it's a tie with Magic and Fantasy (almost the same thing really).
And I think Lu and I have just the books in mind for those themes... hehehe
I second fantasy so the next book in the Percy Jackson series can be nominated for that theme. By this time you all should be seriously addicted anyway!

Hehe can't wait to get started :)

Ok a summary:
Lu - Magic
Niecole - Fantasy (seconded by Sonette)
Lauren - The Future
- Feminist Sci-Fi
Heather - Strong female character
Emma - Mystery
- Thriller
Lerize - Regency Romance
Look right?
