Q&A with Nafisa Haji, author of The Writing on My Forehead discussion

I won't say what happens because I don't want to spoil the ending for those who follow the discussion but haven't read the book, but I'm curious if you started the book knowing the "twist" -- or if you created this in the process of writing.

Great question. I thought I did. But then the book took over and the characters changed everything around. Those pesky characters tend to do that. But I must admit, the story that emerged, as different as it was from what I started out with, was much better.
