The people who finished this book have all noted a marked change that occurs in the second half - where the character's motivations are finally unveiled, and the reader gets to see into the man behind the cold mask, as it were.

Some readers are still reading the story, and perhaps, a few have stalled before the halfway point, unaware of the convergency that occurs after the unveiling of Korendir's inner self.

Well he's obviously not as tough as he lets on if he can be such an old softy about his horse, poor thing.

I'm getting a huge kick out of the pure gall of the man. His battle of wits with the elemental is very amusing.
