These are little ramblings I've written. You must remember a few things when reading them:
1. I have no idea what I'm talking about and I'm not an authority on any subject whatsoever.
2. Feel free to correct me in a polite way if you see an incorrect fact.
3. If you disagree with an opinion, feel free to calmly, politely discuss it with me. I won't argue with you.
4. These are my opinions. Please respect them.

Enjoy! I hope. :)

Thought #1:
The Impossibility of Time Travel
(or: A Consistent Believer of Impossible Things Finally Having Doubt)

Since I was young, I have believed in many things that are considered impossible by others--God, fairies, the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and the like. For a time I even believed in time travel. As I have aged, however, I realize its impossibility. I also realize that my disbelief is rather uncommon, as time travel is based in science, not simply belief. I would love to be proved wrong some day, for all that I disbelieve in it. I can't deny that time travel would be an extremely helpful, educational, and would offer extraordinary opportunities; if I think about it logically, howevr, I simply cannot support its possibility with the knowledge I have now.

First, I must deal with the concept of time. Many people don't acknowledge the fact that the conept of time is man-made. Someone created the hour, the minute, the second, to organize days. Even if you are Christian you canot say God created a corporeal thing stamped with the label "TIME." He created moments, the only things that are real; the universe is made up of moments where things occur, one right after the other. The past moments are gone forever; the future moments don't exist yet.

My question is, after moments pass, where do they go? Is there a special corner of the universe reserved for the past? Are their alternate dimensions for every passed moment? Both explanations seem equally unlikely. And time cannot simply exist; if one can travel through it, it must be made of matter, and therefore must take up space.

(All of this is under the assumption that the time traveling is to occur in our universe; in Heaven, or Hell, or Limbo, or really any other place the rules are probably different.)

I have too much to say on the subject of time travel to the future, so I will try to restrain myself. First, what future would you travel to? There are so many possibile outcomes depending on how people's minds change. There is no definite future to go to. There is also the argument that, as the future moments don't exist yet, there is physically no future to travel to. Even if the moments did exist, somewhere, there are an infinite number of possibilities (though some are, admittedly, highly unlikely).

I would love to be proved wrong about this subject in the future. I hope that time travel would only be used in ways to benefit society. I also worry, however, that by solving mysteries of the past, history will become less interesting.

Hopes and worries aside, I cannot logically believe that all past and future moments exist to be traveled to. Time is a man-made concept, not a natural form of matter, and must be treated as such.

(Yes, I'm shutting up now)

I love these!!! Put them all!!!

Melody [not just some girl you can sway] (melo-chan) | 355 comments I believe in God, the Loch Ness monster, unicorns, and dragons, but time travel has always seemed illogical to me. That was really quite good, and thought-provoking; post more?

same, but i believe in time travelling. you never know. if they can likely create tiny black holes in the Large Hadron Collider, they can probably figure out time travel someday.

Melo-chan: Thank you! :D (I want to say something else, but I can't think of anything... So thank you, again!) And I'll post more. I have a ton of little things like this written, I just need to type and edit them.

Sephiroth: I'd love to be proved wrong on this subject, but I simply can't believe science will be able to travel through time. (Besides, I would rather science focus on problems like curing cancer than figuring out how to travel through time.)
