Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder

Have at it, guys! Spoilers are OK in this thread.

Before I go, here's a link to the Maps of Inside Out. You'll need 'em!

Misti (mistify) I just finished reading this book and it was really good! I had a hard time putting it down. The map is really nice. I wish I had looked at it before I finished but even so, I was able to picture things pretty well in my head.

Kimberly | 37 comments I really liked this book, I was surprised how different it was to the Study books, it was a lot more sci-fi, not fantasy. I really liked how Trella was very stubborn, not accepting of the norm. I liked their names too, not to hard to pronounce. I really want to know what is in the letter that Trella's mom wrote! I sure hope that is in the next book! I was surprised by the Gateway, I kind of thought that was maybe the case, but I was so sad that Cog died! I wonder if the history is deep inside of the computer anywhere or if it has all been deleted by the Travas. I was also surprised by the ending, I didn't know where it could go after the Gateway kind of ended up being a dead end, so I thought the next book would just be about reorganization. So the ending caught me off guard, and I hope it means that no more babies will be taken from their moms, that was so hard for me, I started crying! I liked the book and I want the next one!

Kate Taylor (katetj) it was amazing!!

Im pretty good at guessing books, but i didnt guess that outside was space and they were in a space ship! That surprised me but i was glad :D not that cog died, I remain some hope that aliens snagged him before he died. (probably impossible but i can dream!)

I kept thinking of the movie The Island (with Ewan Mcgregor and Scarlett Johansson) when they were clones living in the same complex with strict rules.. horrible to think of the movie with a completely different unrelated book i know, but i couldnt help it, which is another reason i was glad for the space because i couldnt imagine what would be on the outside if it was just more population.

There were so many great twists and I loved how Riley and Trella talk about sheepy! I can't wait for the second book and I hope that the new level has lots of new secrets for Trella to discover! And that she reads the letter from her mother!

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 67 comments Wow. Just wow.

I loved it! I just finished it sitting here at work, I could not put it down! I loved the characters and the world they lived in was so different, but described so well that I felt like if I was dropped into the book I could find my way around Inside. I'm usually able to predict what is going to happen in a story but this one took me completely by surprise. (Of course that usually happens with Maria's books). I cannot wait for the next book.

I love Sheepy!

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 67 comments Kate, I thought of The Island too!

Reema | 142 comments loved it. i want more, how long do we have to wait? i loved sheepy - hope he's in the next one

message 9: by Samantha (new)

Samantha I finished this one recently and I really liked it! :D

I didn't know what to expect on the outside. I almost decided that maybe it was a perverse experiment and maybe if they opened Gateway it would be to somewhere here on Earth. Almost like a mouse and maze-type thing.

I'm glad Trella found her mom, and the ending was definitely really juicy, lol (can you tell I didn't suspect a thing)!

^ Here's an interview with Maria on my blog about Inside Out! Enjoy!

Erica (storybookend) | 1 comments Yes! Thanks for the maps. Not very detailed, but I can imagine it better. And I thought Inisde Out was pretty good. I was so sad when Cog died! Did not expect that to happen.(I also thought of the Island, and Uglies a little. because there's the upper and scrubs and then Uglies there's the uglies and pretties.) But Inisde Out is original, I really liked it. I loved that Outside was Space. That was a really nice twist. Ooh, I'm excited for Outside In!

message 13: by Jacalyn (new)

Jacalyn | 141 comments I loved the book! I couldn't put it down and read it the day after I got it. I loved Maria's foray into scifi and I had several theories as to Outside. I loved how Logans Run this was... :)

message 14: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta I, too, was surprised when I realized it was a spaceship. And, being a total sci-fi freak, a bit disappointed in myself for not guessing that earlier.

Great book. Different enough from the Poison books, also. I will be reading the sequel this weekend. Very much looking forward to finding out what is going to happen next.
