I thought I'd start a thread for stumpers (you remember something about the book, but can't remember the title or author). Here's one from my friend Meloukhia...
I am trying to think of a book. The basic premise of the story is that God and the Devil (or two angels, I'm not quite sure) have set up a thought experiment. God thinks that people can always redeem themselves, but doesn't provide any guidance to them because he thinks they should figure out how on their own. Devil thinks people are temptable and thus corruptible. Two battle it out to see if a truly good person exists. (I seem to recall scenes in limbo?)
After I sent her a bunch of suggestions, none of which were the book she was looking for, she followed up with this info...
I do remember that the main character is--well he's kinda trying to help God out by pointing people in the right direction? Because God takes a hands-off approach and people keep messing up.
