Any thoughts on what Francis decides to do? Does he return to Dove River?

Well, there first has to be a reunion with Angus who seemed to have an epiphany of sorts the last time we saw him. Besides his family, there's nothing in Dove River for Francis; he'll have to go to Toronto.
Francis passes through Dove River, then he, Jacob, Line and Sturrock move on to Toronto, where Francis keeps in general touch with Maria. There is no reconciliation with Angus for Francis. He then joins with Sturrock in the search for a written Indian language; Jacob helps through his trader connections.
I think he would be unable to return to Dove River, in so much as of the small mindedness of those that lived in the town and how they would prefer to condemn him for the truth as opposed to murder. I do think he would begin a quest with Sturrock as Diane suggested, for the Indian language, and there is a potential for him to move to a larger city, where he would find some form of identity or acceptance that is true to himself
