Oooh, these totally sound like the kind of romance stories I'd be into! ...Which means there's about 98% chance my library doesn't have them, but I can try lolFamiliar Scars by Christy Leigh Stewart - The leading couple adopt a cross-dressing child prostitute.
I freaking LOVED Peter!!! He was like, my favorite character even though he was barely in the book XDD.
...I can't tell if you're joking or being serious :/This thread just reminded me of the movie Zerophilia ! I think that movie would qualify as...gender-bender bizarro romantic comedy? lol. It had such an odd premise that I thought it would be crap, but it was actually really cute/sweet~ I wanna go watch it again now...
If I Were a Lady... by Bryl R. Tyne - A pre-op M2F transgender teacher hooks up with a straight male principal.
Not a good book but I love the premise. Does anyone know any good transgender romances?

Maledicte by Lane Robbins is a great gender bender / trans. I literally can't recommend this one enough. It has characters with a whole lot of punch and depth and a complicated back story. The main character Miranda has her young lover Janus taken away from her and swears revenge so she allows herself to be possessed by a Kali-esque type goddess that promises her revenge in return for some rather hefty payments Miranda must make in return. Only problem is the two female personalities come to a standstill and for various reasons niehter wants to completely back down so the other can claim control of the physical body.
As a result the conflict between the two gives room for a third, and separate personality to take control who is fully and completely male - the Maledicte of title fame. It's not your typical "girl in boys clothes story", the gender identity is complete and the main character doesn't back down from it at all. Also contains the only love triangle I've ever read that is 100% believable and has actual stakes to it that contain (among other things) heavy questions of sexual identity for all characters involved.
