Ohhhhhhhhhh, that's so hard! Okay, I guess if I could live in a book it would be in the Harry Potter series. Magic, so much bloody magic;)Do you have a title for book 3 yet? Which brother will it be featuring?
I understand the bloodchange for Vampires, but is it like that for humans who get changed by them, or is it a different process?
If you could only bring one book to a desert island, which would it be?
Book 3 is called "Out for Blood" and it's about Quinn so there's lots of snarky yum. it's also about Hunter who you will met briefly in Blood Feud...she's a vampire hunter. it's out Nov 1 in UK, and i think january in north america (but don't quote me on that last date!)
The bloodchange for humans is basically the same but more sudden and illness-like as opposed to coma-like, if that makes sense. i touch on it in Out for Blood. :)
oh no, only one book??? ack! ;) I'd probably pick The Wood Wife by Terri Windling. (unless i decided to figure out the longest of my favourite books lol). what would you pick?

Sheesh, that's a loaded question. It really hard to chose. I love Twilight because you get to see a more tamed side of Vampires and the wolves are so mystical. But I think Shadowhunters from The Mortal Instument by Cassandra Clare are amazing and I would love to be one of them. To be a warrior full of bravery, strength and skill who could fight off demons would be super awesome. I think since the Mortal Instuments Series has so many different creatures; demons, vampires, faeries, werewolves, warlocks, angels and more that world would be full of many possibilities. I find it all very fasinating. To answer Tina's question, I would take my Jane Austen complete novel book. I know I'm cheating a little but it's all in one book.
I have a question. Which vampires do you like best and from which books? and why?
I would have to say The Cullens because they are so civilized. But I also do like The House of Night series because the vampires are tamed as well but also provocative. I have to say The Drakes are up there with these two types of vampires I love and I can't wait to read more about them. I don't like the more animalistic vampires because they scare me;)
AH! i know what book i would love to live in!!!
Harry Potter. Hands down.
I mean it would be cool to love in the Sword of Truth books, or even the Great And Terrible Beauty books. I would even push to go live in The Golden Compass worlds. But all those books have elements of there worlds that i dont like, but not Harry Potter, that world is complete.
Now for Alyx!
I have three questions.
First: When you were growing up,when did you start writing? If it was in your teens, did you used to write out scenes that would play in your head and make up characters for them? Or did you novels come to you in a different way?
Second: What book would YOU choose to live in?
Third: When you were writing the Drake Chronicles did you make profiles for each character? Or did you base there appearance on pictures you had already seen like certain celebrities?
=D
Oh and if i could bring only one book to a deserted island, i would bring the Harry Potter Omnibus.
I know that is slightly cheating but really you said one BOOK not one NOVEL. so technically its not REALLY cheating =)
hehe =)

I never heard of The Wood Wife before, I'll really have to check that one out!
HA! Even though it was my question, I don't know which book I'd pick if I was left on an Island. I think I'd go with HP7, that book was epic to me:)
Thanks for answering my questions:)
To answer Trini question; All the vamps from different books bring in something that I adore.
The Cullens for there kindness, The Drake for there humor, VA for being so Kickass:)
Trini: Choosing a vampire is like choosing a favourite chocolate! lol i'm partial to Tanya Huff's Blood Ties, they were one of the forst vampires I really got into (in the '90s) and Henry is snarky and fabulous. I don;t read vamp YA while I'm writing it though, so I'm way way behind!

I've been writing since I was around 9 years old. I was on a family vacation, bored out of my mind and bugging everyone and a friend of the family suggested I write a short story and I got hooked!
in my teens mostly wrote poetry and worked on one giant fantasy novel.
I usually start with a couple of characters and an opening scene that pops into my head (sometimes just a first line) and then I basically write to find out the story. About halfway through I have to wrestle with plot since I don't outline first.
Second: What book would YOU choose to live in?
Oh! Hoisted on my own petard! ;)
I change my mind daily! maybe Pride and Prejudice, maybe the Wood Wife, or Solstice Wood by Patricia McKillip? Or the Harry Potter books, that sounds like fun!
Third: When you were writing the Drake Chronicles did you make profiles for each character? Or did you base there appearance on pictures you had already seen like certain celebrities
I have a notebook for each novel I write to keep track of story ideas and details. Each notebook has pages for my characters with their physical details as well as favourite books, food etc...
I also make collages for each main character so there can be celebrities involved but they come after the character is clear in my head and are mostly a "closest fit" for the sake of the collage. And I do like to play the fake movie game but not usually until I'm finished the book or at least halfway done.

In my head the series is 5 books long (but i have lots of offshoot idea) so not every book gets a brother...
I am finishing the fourth book this month and half is from from Lucy's POV so there's lots of her and Nicholas!

Don't forget to check out the contest on my livejournal (alyxh) for Hearts at Stake swag, including a tote bag, pendant, mug, mousepad and an I *heart* Nicholas Drake keychain!
It is scary how similar we are when it comes to writing...whenever i start writing i never have an outline i just write what happens as it comes to me...thank goodness im not the only one!!!
thanks for answering my questions....its really helped me become confident with how i write knowing im not the only one who does it that way!!!!!

Wow, what a great and tough question!I don't think that I could narrow it down to one book to live in if given the choice. I would definitely love to spend some time in the world of Anne Rice, both her Vampire Chronicles and in the world of The Mayfair Witches.
Which book would you choose to live in?

i'll go first...my question to you all:
if you could live in a book, which one would it be?
