Whats your Bookmark?
I've been using the same 3, unfilled medical scripts for my bookmarks. Actual bookmarks tend to be a little fat for my tastes, I prefer a piece of paper.
i use a Wizard of Oz bookmark right now. My favorite bookmarks are those Book Rugs. The look like mini-carpet runners and are really soft. Best thing about them: no ribbon that my cat can play with and lose my place.
aha, i recently got a bookmark that has beaded tassels on it and it drives me nuts, swishing around and getting in my way.
I found a few that are magnetic, and fold over the page. This is great because books go everywhere with me, and the markers don't fall out. Plus, at least 2 are Macaws, my favorite!
I use a piece of A4 paper folded 4 times , to make like a little notepad , this tends to be covered in info about book/authors to check out , thinks I need to do , and any web sites I come across when I`m out and about .(this piece of paper get renewed and rewritten every week or so)
My Secret Santa Lori sent me a pretty one encased in a plastic cover, and my SIL got me a similar set with caricatures of famous writers: Shakespeare, Austen, Joyce Carol Oates, Hemingway, and Poe. I love them because they stay in place and stick out at the top so I can see where I am.

I don't have anything flashy just a plain old bookmark I picked up at the library for free. It's from Vampire Kisses: Blood Relatives and says "Sink Your Teeth into a Good Book"
Rachel wrote: "i have these, My only complaint is there's a picture on the back and the front so i can never remember which side of the page i'm on."Lol, me too. Though, I only have one that has the same pic on both sides. When I use that one, I try to stop on the same side of the book each time. The other ones have the bird (or puppy, I have a few of those) on one side, and then advertisement for the company on the other.
I have a bookmark collection (which is rather large from working in the library for 11 years!), but I keep coming back to the magnetic ones.
i guess i am the only one that dogears? when its a library book it is any random scrap with in reaching distance
Kelly wrote: "i guess i am the only one that dogears? when its a library book it is any random scrap with in reaching distance"In my house that will get you a number and put into a camp.

Amen
Kelly wrote: "i guess i am the only one that dogears? when its a library book it is any random scrap with in reaching distance"lol, i used to then i realized it was too mena for my books. Plus I have some old SK so I don't want to tear them up.
Kelly, dogearing a page is a no-no. I just can't do it. It's like I can hear the paper screaming when I start to fold it over.
My mom dog ears, but she is usually reading resource material and generally has a highlighter and post-it flags out as well. In that case, I give her slack, but no one wants to loan her regular fiction book because of the dog-ear habit.
Always use a book mark. The "faded" one I'm using right now is one I found in a book....right before hunting season last year....A pic of an Elk!
wow, sore subject. my husband ( a none reader) is adamant about not dogearing, but he lays books down open faced, this seems way more destructive. i look at dogearing as a little mark of love(anyone buying that?)

Kelly wrote: "i look at dogearing as a little mark of love(anyone buying that?)"Not at all, it's just as bad as the open face down crime. *shutters*
In keeping with my abusive book habits, I also lay them down open faced. Uh but I would NEVER do that to a library book Tressa... Don't revoke my card...
Laying a book face down does a lot of damage if it sits that way for even a few hours. You cretins. Steph, I'll have a security guard take your card from you when you come by tomorrow. Eleven, right?
No, Kelly, we're never buying what you're selling.
Tressa wrote: "Is that to remind you not to shoot one, Lee?"Hee...Hee...My son ( he's 20 ) got his first elk last fall, 6X6 bull. Great dad moment! Also, venison tastes wonderful!
Lee wrote: "Hee...Hee...My son ( he's 20 ) got his first elk last fall, 6X6 bull. Great dad moment! Also, venison tastes wonderful!"Yes it does!!! I'm a really big Buffalo addict too.
Trace wrote: "I have a Taylor Lautner bookmark but only because my brother bought it for me for Christmas!!"Yikes, I would have to give that one away, I don't like the looks of any of those kids.
They all look like they should be taking my order at Wendy's....
What a bunch of sourpusses, Stewart almost always looks lobotomized.
I did not read the books or see movie, so cant comment on either of those, but those actors, icky.
Bingo! Dana about Stewart and the lobotomy. I cannot stand to watch her in movies. How did she get such a coveted role?
I've sometimes use holiday postcards, as they always make me smile :) otherwise it has to be posh soft leather bookmarks - something about the smell and feel, but not in a kinky way ;)

Tressa wrote: "Bingo! Dana about Stewart and the lobotomy. I cannot stand to watch her in movies. How did she get such a coveted role?"I haven't a clue, she is not capable of any facial expression, even when they take her publicity shots, red carpet shots, she is just sullen and dead.
I tend to misplace bookmarks all the time but it doesn't stop me form getting new ones, I had a few from the Golden Compass movie and some cool Halloween magnetic ones.. and I never ever dog ear it or lay it open, most of the time I dress them in these little slip on plastic BroDart covers I have in all sizes

I agree on Stewart and yet I still want to see the Runaways movie, odd
I can't stand Stewart or Pattison at all! Lautner well he can take his shirt off anytime it needs to be washed! :P
Trace, you and my 11-year-old niece has the hots for Taylor, lol. He's one of those actors who looks too perfect to be human. Does one hair ever stray out of place?
Tressa wrote: "Trace, you and my 11-year-old niece has the hots for Taylor, lol. He's one of those actors who looks too perfect to be human. Before that I was already flinching because he already didn't look Native American.
Usually I use one a girlfriend of mine made for me; it's a copy of one of her original paintings, with hemp and beads for the tassel. It's the only one I can use consistantly and not lose.
I have a bunch of Bookmooch bookmarks so I have been using those. I also like the little magnetic ones that clip over the page because they don't fall out causing me to lose my page.

I love bookmarks, I usually feel guilty just using the library check out card or a receipt as a bookmark, it seems to disrespect the book. I have some pretty fancy ones, usually egyptian or Frank Lloyd Wright in nature.
How do you feel about using bookmarks in books?
