Dean Koontz is my favorite author :-) I Keep talking about Dean Koontz but haven't started a thread for him - so here it is. The book I recommend the most is Life Expectancy. It's a good one to start with and gives you a taste of Dean's writing. Dean is a prolific writer and he currently has 3 series that are not complete, but most of his books are stand-alone novels.

Here is a little advertisement/promotion that I posted in the Koontzland - Dean Koontz group yesterday :-) I used several of Dean Koontz's book titles in it, thought I'd share it here:

An Unpaid Advertisement for the Koontzland-Dean Koontz Group

IT'S COMING!

It might be a little ODD, it might make you want to HIDEAWAY, it might give you NIGHT CHILLS or leave you BREATHLESS.

It's coming, like the TICK TOCK of a clock, like the WHISPERS of PHANTOMS at TWILIGHT or DARKFALL.

Hopefully, it will make us less like STRANGERS on STRANGE HIGHWAYS. Hopefully, it will cause you to FEAR NOTHING and leave THE BAD PLACE, Maybe even SEIZE THE NIGHT with a good MIDNIGHT read BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON.In Fact, it will likely increase your LIFE EXPECTANCY! (unlessYOUR HEART BELONGS TO ME, because then it would be THE DARKEST EVENING OF THE YEAR)

It's coming with INTENSITY, with RELENTLESS VELOCITY. It's coming like LIGHTNING in THE HOUSE OF THUNDER in the CITY OF NIGHT.

It's closer than ONE DOOR AWAY FROM HEAVEN. A reader would do well to watch FROM THE CORNER OF HIS EYE. THE MASK will be removed, THE FACE will be revealed, THE VISION will be seen, but only by WATCHERS!

It's Coming to Koontzland.
IT'S COMING SOON.

Disclosure: it is in no way associated with Stephen King.IT is a book by Stephen King which was later made into a film. Pennywise is not the "it" that is coming to Koontzland.

Here's a link to the Koontzland-Dean Koontz group on goodreads. We have almost 100 members and we're only 3 1/2 months old :-) I started this new Dean Koontz group on December 20th because the moderator of the other Koontz group was not active.

Christine Thanks. Very clever promotion for your group! I like it.

Kim | 7 comments I'm reading Koontz's Velocity. Excellent and not so gory (so far) as what used to turn me off of him.

I've read Velocity twice. I didn't like it as much the second time around, but this was the first Dean Koontz book that I really enjoyed reading, even though it's one of many of his books where I find myself yelling at the main character as I'm reading :-)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 59 comments My favourite Koontz book has to be The Bad Place. But I've enjoyed almost everything I've read by him. I wasn't so keen on Frankenstein though.

We're reading The Bad Place in the Koontzland group in May. I've read it twice and next month will be my 3rd time reading it which is a very rare thing for me to do :-)

message 9: by Christine (new)

Christine Is that a stand alone book?

Yes The Bad Place is Stand Alone,as are most of Dean's books :-) He only has 3 series - none of which are complete. The series are Christopher Snow (book 3 has been promised for years), Frankenstein (book 4 of 6 will be published in June) and Odd Thomas (still awaiting word on book 5 - there are 7 planned)

Christine and Shaun, you are welcome to join Koontzland if interested :-) We don't read any other authors as a group except Dean Koontz at this time since he has written so many books. Shaun, we do have a folder for other authors, books and groups, just like this group where you are welcome to start a discussion thread - like here, it's found near the bottom of the group home page.

Just a fair warning - Koontzland now has over 100 members and we do have a few rather vocal critics but overall it's a great group and we have some ummm interesting discussions at times. We even have a section for dog-lovers because as you might know, Dean's beloved dog Trixie (now deceased) is also an author :-)

Susan (aka Just My Op) (justmyop) I just picked up a used copy of The Bad Place so will try to participate. It will be great to have more of the Stephen White people in the Koontzland group!

Maybe it will help balance out some very strong opinions :-)
