I love Kate Bush! Why is she not going to make more albums? She's still alive, right? My fave Kate Bush songs:
The Fog
Love and Anger
Running Up that Hill
This Woman's Work
Don't Give Up (w/ Peter Gabriel)
I like Kate Bush, too, but just know her most well-known stuff like "Wuthering Heights." I probably need to dig deeper into her music.
She's a very unique artist. I'm sad to think she's not making anymore records. I need to buy Aerial.
Kate was my goddess of inspiration for years and years. I first discovered her in college through THE DREAMING album, which remains on my list of "the 10 discs I would take with me to a desert island." I still hope that AERIAL is not her swan song, though if it is, it was a beautiful statment to go out on. Her albums are all amazing adventures, but unfortunately the time between them has grown longer and longer. There was more than a decade between THE RED SHOES and AERIAL, and it's only been 5 years since the last so... there's hope still for more!
Love Kate Bush!! Favorite is probably Running Up That Hill. What a beauty of a voice!! I put her in the same category as Tori Amos. Beautiful, mixed up ladies, great voices, inspried lyrics.
Actually, I'd say that Tori is in the same category as Kate, who established it :-) I think Tori was heavily influenced by Kate, who dominated the '80s with her groundbreaking albums. Tori took the ball and ran with it in the '90s, as Kate's work quieted. I love both of them, but in the end I think Kate has explored more "dreamscapes." Her style and range has changed direction with almost every album, whereas Tori seemed to stop growing after three or four discs. Listen to LITTLE EARTHQUAKES and then listen to ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SIN. Growth and maturity between them yes, absolutely. But the difference is not nearly as striking as Kate's range from THE KICK INSIDE to AERIAL. And the albums in between... wow!
If you like Kate Bush, I garuntee you're going to love patti rothberg. I know I'm mentioning her a lot, but her music fits this group so well.
I used to like Tori Amos, but she became a little too overtly-anti-religion for me. I respect that's where she's coming from with her life, but I had to wince too much listening to her lyrics. I much prefer Kate Bush. Like you said, she's dreamy and soothing. Tori Amos isn't very soothing at all to me.
Such a wonderful voice she has! I often listen "The Whole Story" album. "Wow" is my favorite.
The Fog is not only my favourite Kate Bush song but it's my favourite song in the whole world. Also I named my fish after that song.
