After reading the 7 book, I totally felt bad for Snape!! He turned into one of my favorite characters after that book!!!
He is my favorite characters since the first book!Because he just like the best potion maker in the world..
I've loved Snape from the first book. He's the most interesting character in the series for me. I don't consider him a hero though - he's more of an anti-hero.
Poor Snape ... he was so misjudged the whole time. But it wasn't really the reader's fault that we hated him so. He was always so sinister and horrible to Harry; always taking off marks from Griffendar. It was in the end when Harry saw Snapes's memories in the pensieve that we felt bad for him. Specially where he was tormenting himself over Lily's death. Poor guy was always in love with Lily but couldn't do anything about it.
I know he's extremely brave and devotes his life to protecting Harry because of his love for Lily, but the way he treats Neville and Harry sometimes is just inexcusable. His hatred of James is quite understandable and his resentment towards Harry is human, but Snape, being a bitter person, can never see past this hatred to realize that Harry's personality is much more like Lily's.
Me too! I always liked Snape a lot (but my Mom says that I've always preferred villains) and I loved that you got to see his goodness in DH...
I always felt like he had this deep dark secret inside him, he was always so brooding and secretive. But I never thought he was so in love with Lily the whole time.
I hated him very much in the 1st 6 books. But, after the 7th I felt so bad about him, 'cuz everyone thought he was mean.
I've always loved him because the question of his true allegiance has always been the most interesting point of the series (for me) to speculate about.
We felt that throughout the entire series. "Maybe he's a good guy since Dumbledore trusts him!!"
"He can't be. He must be with Voldemort!"
"But he changed sides."
"Once a Death-eater, always a death eater."
"But he works for Dumbledore now."
"But he's horrible to Harry. He wants to kill him. "
You get the idea...

Its great the way JKR kept us in the dark till almost the last part ... even in the 6th book, he killed Dumbledore himself and we were absolutely sure he was with the Dark Lord.
I know right! It was masterful planning on her part...she probably had it all planned out from the first one...

I thought and thought but couldn't rationalize with his behaviour until the next book came out.

I think she planned it all out in the begging though... in all her interviews she said she always had a plan

Yeah, and the best part of the killing was when Dumbledore was pleading to Snape, "Please Severus, please. " We all thought he was begging for mercy to Snae, when all the time, he was begging him t kill him. It was awesome on JKR's part.

After I read Snape's chapter in DH where he was proved to be innocent, I went bak to the HBP where he killed Dumbledore; and amazingly, the whole thing made sense then!!
I love Snape and I love that scene in HBP and how it seemed like one thing and then after you read DH it makes sense...
I love Snape...he's so complex and he's the one character who always interested me and kept me wondering...
