What did you think of the Epilogue?

message 2: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments which one? about the second generation kids?

message 3: by Pandy (last edited Jun 24, 2010 05:07PM) (new)

Pandy I didn't see this topic before I wrote what I thought about the epilogue in the "what would you change" topic. Anyway, I don't like the epilogue.

message 4: by Pandy (new)

Pandy I think it's too cheesy. I'm not against a happy ending, but the epilogue seems so sentimental. The names of Harry's kids - especially Albus Severus - are just too sweet.

YEah, i don't really like the names... i think she should have come up with something more original? I mean did Ginny have any say in what the kids were to be named?

message 6: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) I liked the names because they reflected people who were important to Harry and I think that Ginny would have suported those choices.

message 7: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments I agree with Pandy. The ending was just too cheesy... too sweet. Specially the naming. Seems like they are trying to create an entire new generaion based on the people who were dead.

I understand naming them Lily, and even James... but all of the kids? It feels like they were waiting with a list of dead people waiting to see if the next kid was a girl of a boy .... and they would just give them the next name on the list.

Too tacky.

message 8: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) I think that it was a little cheesy but I still liked it. And I think the names are perfect. I mean he couldn't just name them something random in my opinion. I think it was nice. A lot of people are named after family members or family friends anyway and I don't see anything wrong with that...

YEah, i've never really been into the whole named after a dead relative thing. I think Lily was cute but Albus Severus was a little over board, plus with that i think the kids would be seen as named after famous people and not as there own individual selves. They're already going to be famous... ahah i'm reading way too much into this!

message 10: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments Exactly, the kids should have been named according to their personality. Like if the first girl had eyes like Harry, she could have been called Lily. Or the kid who was very naughty as soon as he was born could have been James ... you get the general idea.

message 11: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) Well yes but they would have already thought about names... I don't think the personality defines the name...I think that people make whatever they want out of their name...

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) I love the epilouge!

message 13: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) me too...

message 14: by Laura (new)

Laura ya it was pretty good although i think it would be cool if there was alittle more about the kids...

message 15: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments If you wanna read more about the kids, you have to wait another five years or so, after which JKRowling is going to write again, possibly about the kids.

Or alternately, you could try the James Potter series by G. Norman Lippert.

message 16: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) cool...

message 17: by Pandy (last edited Jun 26, 2010 03:56PM) (new)

Pandy I don't think I really want to read the James Potter fanfiction. I guess it's just because of a mental block I have, but I only want to read about the kids if JKR writes it (I don't actually think she should write complete novels about them, but short stories and/or information in an encyclopedia would be nice.). I usually don't read fanfic - I've never read Cassie Clare's famous Draco Trilogy - except for the occasional short story.

message 18: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments I was surprised too when I found out about the James Potter series. I always though JKR was going to write about them herself after a decent break.

Huh?

message 21: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments Which part? Where's the confusion?

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) I got confused with James Potter series. What the heck is that?

message 23: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) Yeah I don't know what that is either...

message 24: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy and i thought the ending was nice. it wasn't the best or anything, but i thought it left you feeling a bit nostalgic.

message 27: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) oh...cool...I should check it out...

message 28: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments Yeah, I downloaded all three books ... they're available in Goodreads... you can check it out.

message 29: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) I will. :)

message 30: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy yup yup.

message 31: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy idk on goodreads but go to his site and you can.

message 32: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy yah, if the owner says you can.

message 33: by Pandy (new)

Pandy Yeah - it's fanfic so it can't be sold, anyway.

message 34: by April (new)

April Poole (fangirlapril) oh...

message 35: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy yup yup.

message 36: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy well, the James Potter Series is fanfic.

message 37: by Pandy (last edited Aug 16, 2010 04:01PM) (new)

Pandy Oh, well than it wouldn't be legal to download them for free.

message 38: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy yah, and i thought you were talking about JP because that was the last book we talked about.

message 39: by Mirza (new)

Mirza (mirzaarhasan) | 403 comments I don't know if downloading is legal or not, but I only found them on goodreads ebooks, nowhere else!! And they looked too sorted-out for a fan-fic, with a cover illustration and index and all that. Looked like a real book to me.

message 40: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy your talking about JP?

message 41: by Pandy (new)

Pandy I think Mirza is - the JP books do look like "real" books, although they are fanfic. It's perfectly legal to download them.

message 42: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy yah, he can't make money off them because the places and people are not his own.
