Jenny (jenhysaj) I just picked my copy of that up from the library today. I've been dying to read it. I like Scott Westerfeld, he is a little different type of writer, but I think his underlying stories are intriguing and creative.

message 24: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jenhysaj) Yes, they cover the hard back books to protect the binding. A lot of the time if you take them off the book underneath has no design on it.

message 39: by Scott (new)

Scott Carter Great topic! I just published my first novel and waiting for the cover was terrifying. The last thing any author wants is to look at something that doesn't work for them as the visual stamp on their work. Not only did the designer working on my book create something that impressed me, but it also excites me every time I look at it. I was blessed to have her share her. Genius with the project. Check it out at www.blindluck.ca when you have a moment.

Other covers I love include the devil's tail on Glen Duncan's I Lucifer and the wrapped boxer hands on Craig Davidson's Rust and Bone.

message 44: by Jenny (last edited May 19, 2010 02:09PM) (new)

Jenny (jenhysaj) So, random comment having to do with book covers. I was reading on this site the other day that most authors do not get a choice in what their book cover looks like. It is usually up to the publisher, so if you don't like it then, sorry, that's life. There was this one book I guess that got a lot of criticism because the lead character on the cover is white, but in the book she isn't white. I think this might have been covered in another envelope, but I thought it was interesting and kinda sucky for authors.

Here is the U.S. Cover Photobucket

Erica (storybookend) click 'add book/author', at the bottom of the little box there's an option for link or book. click on book, then click 'add' of the book you want and voila! there's a book cover.
