Hi Kaleigh, There are long and in-depth articles about inspiration on my website at www.lorilansens.com but the short answer is that although the protagonists of my novels, the elderly black woman Addy Shadd, the conjoined twins Rose and Ruby and the obese Mary Gooch are obviously physical different from me, I feel a part of them - or they are a part of me. I joke that I'm a method writer and feel inhabited by my characters, but there is a seed in my personality from which they have all - even the secondary and lesser characters - sprouted. I'm inspired to write based on my current preoccupations - with Addy Shadd it was triumph over adversity, with the conjoined twins it was the nature of identity and connection, and with Mary Gooch it was body image.

Mary (marypierce-slocum) | 1 comments Dear Ms.Lansens, Your novel, Rush Home Road, is one of my favorite books. I look forward to reading your other books also. I think it is so cool that you are making this appearance here and talking to your readers. I do not have a question at this time but I learned a lot from reading other exchanges you've had on here. Thank you for your high quality writing. It is noticed and appreciated. Sincerely, Mary
