Okay, Im really facebook stupid, but I want to set up one, and I'd be happy to fan everyone etc. If someone could give me a hint just how the heck I'm supposed to do it.
I have a standard Facebook account, do I need to go from there or log out and start over?

Frances, just go to the bottom of one our pages, there's a link to create a page on the left hand side. Then, it should be pretty easy from there.

When I created mine, I did it through the Facebook help site. There's a link there as well.

Thanks everyone! I found the help link. For some reason I have nothing at the bottom of my page as far as links/icons. Might have something to do with slow dial-up. ;-)

Facebook uses several different link systems....it seems to matter where you get the link from. If you can't find a cleaner-looking one to copy, you can always use a bit of html to make it look better.
For example:

In order to show you, I have to make it not work, so I changed some symbols. Everywhere I write "[" substitute the "less than" symbol above the comma on your keyboard, and everywhere I put ":]," substitute the "more than" symbol on your period key.

That should work when you change the brackets to the pointed ones.

"A href=" is the code that tells your browser to go somewhere. Your link goes in quotes. Brackets around all that. Then your title, or any other text you want clickable. Then finally the /a in brackets, which tells the browser where the end of the clickable zone is.

For some reason the program put in a couple extra colons. Don't use them.

You go http://facebook.com/username and it will give you a cleaner url after you have 25 fans.

Hmmm....interesting. Thanks. I also noticed that it works just as well without the home.php? and the weird symbols. I cut them out of the link I used for the sample above.

When you go to that page, just below there is a link that says "Set a username" for your pages . It should be pretty simple from there. :o)

I went to the facebook/username link and all I got was a link to my regular page, which just so happens to have the same name as my fan page. However, the indicator on that screen didn't seem to realize that there were two pages with the same name, and only offered me one. So, I'm stuck with the same fan page url I had to begin with...
