I too wanted to read Honolulu, but it is the second one in the series and I still need to read
...Can we have more than one nomintation?
Honolulu is not a continuation of Moloka'i but it is his second book so it is up to the reader I guess.
Yes you can nominate more than one but no more than two!
Trees can count I guess. THX Tracy!

Donna is right. Although Honolulu is Alan Brennert's second book, the stories are stand alone. BTW - They are both excellent books.
I LOVED Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and highly recommend it. I have this one and Shanghai Girls on my TBR.
Gosh the nominations are AWESOME! Just to get a May out there though...I nominate
by Jennifer L. Holm. It's a Newbery Honor so it would be children's..... but it must be good if it is a Newbery Honor so....just to mix it up a little.
Don't know if I'm too late! Coming up with some suggestions is hard! Here's the few I thought of with "May" in the title... The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott
What Dreams May Come
One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd

I second this!
SO I am looking at the poll and see that Moloka'i is winning! It is a very good book. I read it for 2 of my book clubs.
Some of you have already read it too so for those who have read it would you want to read Honolulu??
OR should we read the runner up, which looks like Peony in Love???
OR-OR we could just deal with it and have the one book and we can read whatever we want???
Let me know your thought?

I say we keep doing fun themes just to make it interesting. So for May either nominate a book with the word "May" in the title or within the name of the author or a type of flower in the title or on the cover.
So my nomination is
