Please give suggestions for good books that a fan of Patricia Briggs might enjoy.

♥Lynn ♥ I think that if you like PB you would also like Shifter series by Rachel Vincent. They are great!

Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent Rogue (Shifters, #2) by Rachel Vincent Pride (Shifters, #3) by Rachel Vincent Prey (Shifters, #4) by Rachel Vincent Shift (Shifters, #5) by Rachel Vincent Alpha (Shifters, #6) by Rachel Vincent

I think you might like the Kelley Armstrong Otherworld series. They aren't all weres, though:

Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong Stolen (Women of the Otherworld, #2) by Kelley Armstrong Dime Store Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #3) by Kelley Armstrong Industrial Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #4) by Kelley Armstrong Haunted (Women of the Otherworld, #5) by Kelley Armstrong Broken (Women of the Otherworld, #6) by Kelley Armstrong No Humans Involved (Women of the Otherworld, #7) by Kelley Armstrong Personal Demon (Women of the Otherworld, #8) by Kelley Armstrong Living with the Dead (Women of the Otherworld, #9) by Kelley Armstrong Men of the Otherworld (Women of the Otherworld) by Kelley Armstrong Frostbitten (Women of the Otherworld, #10) by Kelley Armstrong

C.J. Ellisson (cjellisson) Wolves? How about Riley Jensen in Kerri Arthur's series? I love those books!

Has anyone else read them? I can't imagine the wolf loving Danielle has missed those!

message 6: by Mariel (new)

Mariel (fuchsiagroan) I recommend the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Also, the Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill is a good new series. It's more on the lighter humourous side.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 96 comments I think Eileen Wilkes Lupi series is a great one with the following books:

Tempting Danger (World of the Lupi, #1) by Eileen Wilks Mortal Danger (World of the Lupi, #2) by Eileen Wilks Blood Lines (World of the Lupi, #3) by Eileen Wilks Night Season (World of the Lupi, #4) by Eileen Wilks Mortal Sins (World of the Lupi, #5) by Eileen Wilks Blood Magic (World of the Lupi, #6) by Eileen Wilks

Shannon C. | 9 comments Another vote for Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris and Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. Those are terrific.

Magic Bites Kate Daniels

Dead Until Dark Sookie Sackhouse

Some Girls Bite Chicagoland Vampires

I also enjoyed World of Lupi, but found some of those books to be better than others. The Riley Jensen books were mentioned earlier. Just a word of warning those are very high on the sex, just in case that isn't your thing. I found them hard to get into personally.

Some other good series I think Mercy fans would like:

Cassandra Palmer series & spin off Dornia Basarab series (From a timeline perspective start with the Cassie books, but I ended up liking Dory even better as a lead character.)

Touch the Dark

Midnight's Daughter...after reading this, don't miss the anthology in On the Prowl--great read and it is Claire's story happening concurrently with this book

If you don't mind a bit more romance in the story, try:

Nalini Singh's new guild hunter series - great dark paranormal romance; follows a tough, appealing lead heroine throughout the series

Angels' Blood

Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress series - terrific paranormal romance; also follows a hero/heroine throughout the series

Halfway to the Grave

Thanks for the recs, everyone. Keep them coming.

CJ I haven't read the Riley Jensen books b/c I'm not really into the whole in heat and sleep with whoever thing that series has going on.

message 11: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) My very favorite werewolf book is Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater . It's YA and it's a totally different take on the werewolf tales and I absolutely LOVED it! It made me cry which is something that almost never happens with a book.

message 12: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 96 comments I would also recommend Carrie Vaughn and her Kitty the werewolf books, they are

Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn Kitty Goes to Washington (Kitty Norville, #2) by Carrie Vaughn Kitty Takes a Holiday (Kitty Norville, #3) by Carrie Vaughn Kitty and the Silver Bullet (Kitty Norville, #4) by Carrie Vaughn Kitty Raises Hell (Kitty Norville, #6) by Carrie Vaughn Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand (Kitty Norville, #5) by Carrie Vaughn Kitty's House of Horrors (Kitty Norville, #7) by Carrie Vaughn

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
I really liked the first Kitty book. I like that CV wasn't afraid to make her heroine submissive and not kickbutt initially. I get really tired of that trope.

Melodie, I have Shiver, and I plan to read that one someday. Too many books!

I really enjoy the Riley series. I have a love hate relationship with Quinn, but Riley is great. I want a werestallion!

message 15: by Heather C (new)

Heather C (heathercook) I am way behind on the werewolf books!!!! The only books I have read listed above are the Jeaniene Frost books. Many are on my TBR list though. I think I may read Shiver soon sinces its the only one out in that series

message 16: by Bry (new)

Bry (utqtbry) Another new series to consider is the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger

Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger Changeless by Gail Carriger Blameless (The Parasol Protectorate, #3) by Gail Carriger

It has werewolves, vampires, ghosts, and preternaturals, all living in a Victorian steampunk London, England!

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 96 comments Another series with werewolves and other wereanimals that does not get any buzz is the Sazi series by C.T. Adams, the books are

Hunter's Moon (A Tale of the Sazi, #1) by C.T. Adams Moon's Web (A Tale of the Sazi, #2) by C.T. Adams Captive Moon (A Tale of the Sazi, #3) by C.T. Adams Howling Moon (A Tale of the Sazi, #4) by C.T. Adams Moon's Fury (A Tale of the Sazi, #5) by C.T. Adams Timeless Moon (Tales of the Sazi, #6) by C.T. Adams Cold Moon Rising (Tales of the Sazi) by C.T. Adams Serpent Moon (Tales of the Sazi) by C.T. Adams

I enjoyed the first book in that series, Darcy.

message 19: by new_user (last edited Apr 19, 2010 11:13AM) (new)

new_user Briggs has a very unique style, but I agree that if you like her you might like Ilona Andrews. :)

That's UF. For something similar to her heroic fantasy, I think I would recommend Sharon Shinn's Houses series.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
Thanks, NU. I've been sucked into heroic fantasy lately.

message 25: by Angie (last edited Apr 23, 2010 12:55PM) (new)

Angie (angieville) I'll second new_user's recommendation of Sharon Shinn's Twelve Houses series (starts with Mystic and Rider), even though it's not UF..

And definitely, definitely Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels books, as so many have mentioned. I cannot wait for Magic Bleeds to come out.

But for a different and fun UF series, I love Jeri Smith-Ready's WVMP Radio series. OCD Vampire DJs each stuck in the decade they "died" in and a quasi-con artist heroine who's pretty awesome. The first one is Wicked Game.

I have the first in this series, Stray, but every time I pick it up to consider reading it next I am totally overwhelmed by the 600+ length!

message 31: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ Read it Bry!! They get better with each book. The men are yummy and Faythe is one smartmouthed hellcat.

Sonya (luvcurlies) | 10 comments Thanks for all the reccommendations....I am hooked on the paranormal and read Brigg's first 2 and have the other 2 on hold at the library. I will be placing holds...and searching the catalogs for some of these others...sometimes working at a library has its pluses....

They may be long, but you will get sucked in so fast you don't notice how long they are.

message 35: by Bry (new)

Bry (utqtbry) Awesome! Thats exactly what I wanted to hear!

Sonya if I worked at a library I think I would never go home and just end up sleeping there!

message 36: by Sonya (new)

Sonya (luvcurlies) | 10 comments I havent watched television or a movie at home in so long....I like the books that have more the paranormal adventure more than romance (out of a 25 yr marriage). I love the strong women who have some vulnerbility. I think it is where you are in life as to what you are attracted to...lol...just as relationships...lol When we sit at the desk (small branch library) we can go on the computer and I will be looking for a lot of these to see if we have them. We belong to a consortium of ten counties in our state so the availability is awsome...best part. ...no late fines...lol however, I didnt have to worry about that with the pb series...I also liked city of ashes, bones and glass...y adult series and I read the first in the imortal series...evermore. It was good. y adult books are a nice breather...they are light.

message 37: by Sonya (new)

Sonya (luvcurlies) | 10 comments Use your libraries!!! I read and if I like then I buy...cant waste money now days...

message 38: by Bry (new)

Bry (utqtbry) Oh the immortal series are some of my favorite books ever, and I can't wait for theclockwork series to start up!

I just rediscovered my libraries and am so glad I did (went this morning actually!) I was really wanted to read a graphic novel called The Photographer: Into War-Torn Afghanistan with Doctors Without Borders but didn't want to spend $30 at Border's and knew I would never find it in a used books store. Remembered the library, realized I hadn't been in YEARS! And today I got it! I love the library now! I have filled up my holds list already!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
I need to get back in the habit of going to my library (ducks head in shame).

message 40: by Bry (new)

Bry (utqtbry) Hey I have been an avid (and I say that as the most forrible understatement) buyer of books. i would go to half price book, buy 7 of them, and not read them for months (since I have about 100 unreads on my shelves now). Then I would go the next week and do the same! LOL!

Getting them from the library kinda forces me to read them then, since you can only keep so long. Especially a bunch of the YA ones I have requested as there are several others waiting to get their hands on them. Makes me read faster too, although it doesn't take any of the enjoyment away. Also I am finding I am loving audiobooks now which I never listened to cause even at used book stores would still be $15-20.

message 41: by Sonya (new)

Sonya (luvcurlies) | 10 comments Absolutely!!! audio books are great for traveling and just around town. but just because it is terrible on tape doesnt mean it isnt a good read...depends on who is reading it. FYI movies are at the library too....but I have to say, I still love my book store and spent 100 in the last month there....but I am like Bry some of them are still sitting and waiting for me to read- cause I get hooked and yes library books have to go back....

message 42: by Adam (new)

Adam | 11 comments Fools your all fools, a library is your book room at home for your personal use. BUY your own books and treasure them for the future

message 43: by Sonya (new)

Sonya (luvcurlies) | 10 comments tsk tsk....My book room is overflowing with books I will never read again. Choose from the library and if you think it is a book to treasure then buy it....Or if it goes with a collection you have been reading...buy it. As much as I read, I could never afford to buy that many books. And some I read are, lets just face it duds and I dont want or need a copy catching dust....and if I were to be apt to sell it then why buy it in the first place.....My mom has a 3500 square foot home with hardbacks from top to bottom...Some havent been off the shelf for decades...they make me sneeze....lol..

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
I am a believer in owning books you love, but I think libraries are a treasure to our communities.

message 45: by Bry (new)

Bry (utqtbry) I do buy a ton of books, more so that I will ever admit! And even if I get a book from a library, then love it, I will go and buy it. And there are some authors who I buy automatically no matter what like Patty Briggs. But I think libraries are great for trying new authors or graphic novels that are so expensive.

Hahaha my grandmother is like that Sonya. I go to her place all the time to borrow books, and when i take them off the shelves to read the description I swear some are covered in dust. I'll ask her why she doesn't dust them and she says she does, its just that she has so many bookcases by the time she makes a round of dusting the first ones are already dusty again! LOL!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
Bry, I bet it's fun to go to your grandmother's house. Same, for your mom's house, Sonya. Except for the dust.

message 47: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ I go to my lib at least once a week. My husband teases me all the time that our almost 3 year old yells to go to the library like a kid yells to go to McDonald's. Also if there is a book or series you want, as your library to borrow them from another library and they may purchase them for your library as well.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 574 comments Mod
I was like that about the library when I was a kid! I still get excited to go to the library.

message 49: by new_user (new)

new_user You'd be surprised how expensive some books get. Book before last that I suggested as a purchase for my library was 30 something bucks. Thank goodness for libraries. LOL.

message 50: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ I love getting a phone call from the library telling me they have a book I put on hold. It's like Christmas.
