I ♥ Charles. He is the man, in my opinion. They way he is uber scary with others yet so tender with Anna just makes me melt. I remember in the 2nd book, there's a scene where Anna is going shopping and she blows a kiss to Charles. He catches it to his heart and gives her a swoon worthy look. All the other wolves around just stopped and stared. That's my guy!

I liked in the original short story how Anna tells him she's might be his mate but he's not getting any sex because of what she'd been through and he was so okay with it. Instead of convincing her that he's different, he just stayed by her side and gave her space.

That was a good part. Also where she says that if he says she is his then he damn well is hers and she won't put up with cheating.

I think once he realizes just exactly she went through he gives her the space she needs.

I too am a big fan of Charles. My family is part Native American (Choctaw for inquiring minds) and many of my cousins are excessively modest. Yes the girls are willing to wear short shorts and mini's--but don't expect to see more skin than that. Most of us are very into 1 piece swimsuits when we go swimming, we don't show off a lot of boob/bootie etc. But, especially when we are younger, we DO like to dress like everyone else around us, we just tend to not take it to extremes.

I also approved of the way Charles treated Anna after finding out about the way she'd been abused by her original pack. He was willing to allow her to heal and to help her with that as much as he could. I also loved the fact that it was his WOLF and not Charles who decided that Anna and her wolf were his/their mate.

It's hard to describe how I feel about Charles, except I love him. He's so complex, but simple, at the same time.

I think the fact of Charles's age plays ALOT into it. He's got the experience of age on him and instead of rushing headlong or forcing something, he sits back and observes.

I like that about him, too. But I'm a sucker for the quiet, but deadly type.

I know I am SOO late to this thread but I just found this group. CHARLES is my favorite character that Briggs writes about. Love, Love, Love how he treats and respects Anna. He gives her such freedom and security. Brother Wolf is also a very interesting aspect of that love. Very protective and I love that he can talk to her too.
I keep trying to picture Charles. Anyone want to post a picture as to what you think he looks like?

Charles is described as being darker, almost pure native american. This guy is attractive but to me doesn't command the presence Charles does.

I sort of see Charles this way but with longer hair - at least the intensity.

Charles is such a great character. He's a tough and loyal and fierce and strong and loving. *sigh* He and Anna are one of my favorite PNR couples.

There's a scene in River Marked where Mercy is talking to another character and they are discussing Charles. This other character is UBER powerful in his own right and he even makes the comment that Charles is one scary man. I loved it!

Sherri, I know what you are talking about. I found it interesting that in this book Mercy talks quite a bit about Charles when in all the others she barely mentions him.

I chalked it up to the heavy Native American presence in the story.

That is what I figured too, but still.

I think she feels a connection with Charles, given that they are NA, plus she grew up around him. She talks about something they shared in RM when she was growing up, and I think his influence meant a lot to her.

His father is native Hawaiian and his mother was part Native American and German.

Well there you go. I think the Hawaiian is a little more strong in his looks, but he has the embodiment of Charles' spirit, so I can see why you chose him.

He is a hotty!! He has been showing up on a lot of different "who should play" character threads. The pointy eyebrows may seem to quizzical for Charles. But I'm willing to see him in anything.

Rick Mora definitely has the intensity of Charles. Good pick.

Benjamin Bratt is too Hispanic looking. He is nice looking, but I don't see him as Charles. And ok, I admit it--my family is part N.A. (Choctaw) so mostly I think about my cousins or the others that I see around my parents home town.

Ok, I was watching Antiques Roadshow (US version) on Monday, and they showed an old one (Dallas, I THINK) and one of the people there had some photos and an old journal that one of her ancestors (grandfather or great-grandfather) had from his time in the Indian Territories. They panned across some of the photos of N.A.'s in full regalia, and one of them looked just LIKE what I thought Charles should look like. Thought I'd mention that so that everyone can go over and crash the Antiques Roadshow website looking for it. :o)

Jay Tavare to me makes a good Charles not everyone will agree but that's ok :-)

This was the first time I every read one of Patricia Briggs stories and I fell in love with Charles/Brother Wolf he is everything a dominate wolf should be for me and the love and respect he shows to Ann and his need to wait. It was a true love story like Adam and Mercy

He is gorgeous, nice eye candy but I think he's a little too pretty to be Charles. However, the picture for Brother Wolf is great.

Charles is my favorite of all. I like that he's quiet and doesn't say much but, there is a depth of understanding, caring and considering within. It also helps that he is lethal : )

Hello, fellow Charles lovers! Love the pics you've linked of Charles and it's interesting to see how every persons view of a character varies. For me I picture Charles just as he looks on the covers of the series (not so fond of Anna's look there though, but you can't have everything the way you want it). Whoever made those covers is amazing! He or she nailed the Charles look perfectly all with his intense eyes and dangerous look. A perfect match for the character, don't you think?
