Appearance: Clary is just over 5 feet tall with curly red hair, green eyes, and freckles. She has a small chest, a "small rack", and narrow hips, and is said to look like her mother - who is described as beautiful - and have almost no physical traits from her father, Valentine.
Personality: Clary is incredibly stubborn and determined, much like her parents. Like all Shadowhunters, she possesses strength superior to that of an average human. Because of an experiment performed on her by Valentine before her birth, she also has the ability to create new runes and to amplify ordinary runes with her stele, giving them incredible power. Jace once called her "the hot-tempered redhead", but many times she's been a "damsel in distress"

History: At the beginning of the series, Clary, while spending time at a New York City nightclub, is stunned to observe a group of teenagers with apparent supernatural abilities. As they attack a mystical enemy, Clary soon realizes that she is the only one present who can see them. After the battle, she is further introduced to the group of teens, who identify themselves as Shadowhunters, and reveal that they are part of a race of humans that secretly protects humanity from malicious beings (demons) with similar powers, only these creatures use their powers for evil. When her mother goes missing, Clary soon learns that the event is connected to the conflict between the Shadowhunters and their enemies. She then enters the Shadowhunter fold, using her newly revealed mystical abilities to assist the group while attempting to find her mother. And, as she found a new love: Jace.
