Kaleb (-kal-) | 8 comments Hey guys. Moderators, I'm sorry if I broke a rule here, I'm just wanting to know what people think about this.
Alright, so this is my question: at the end of the world, Jesus will reappear and be shown as the Lord of Lords and King of Kings; knowing this, would you rather be alive when that day comes or already be with God?

Keara (kearachristine) *ponders* Well, I'm not sure about this. I hate talking about my religion because others are always so quick to judge.

i SO know EXACTLY what you mean! i have thought about this too. for me sometimes it's like 'well, i wanna live for a long time - have a long, full life . . . but i should be happy to just be with Jesus' - like if he comes before i'm an old woman, say (if i am to live that long), i should just be thrilled beyond words that i'm going home. but idk . . . idk if i want to be alive or not. it would be amazing but terrifying. i dunno :)

but yeah. ultimately God alone knows, and i don't know that i wanna know either. ;)

you mean you hate talking about it around people who don't believe in God, or you mean you hate talking to anyone in general about your religion or is it your opinion of judgment day? (lol feeling duuuuumb here :D)

hey, you can even call me dumb, but i'm just trying to understand what you mean (i'm really not the brightest light bulb out there ya know :) ) ;)

i know what you mean, alex. it's like you don't want to bring it up in front of people, and yet the bible clearly says we must. that doesn't mean you walk around screaming 'HI I'M A CHRISTIAN I BELIEVE IN GOD HI I'M A CHRISTIAN I BELIEVE IN GOD HI . . . ' but yeah. when someone is, say, mocking God or disrespecting God or whatever, we HAVE to stand for Jesus, our Lord, no matter what ridicule/opposition we get. yes, it can be unbelievably hard . . . but Jesus never promised following Him would be easy, did He? :)

Savannah well....its a hard question. so therefore its hard to answer. ( yeah, i know you're probably thinking "no duh, Savannah" right 'bout now)

I've thought about it some before. Use to i would think about if i was a good christian if god would really take me, if i messed up would he still want me, a lot of pretty depressing things (i thought most of it like when i was 8)...i had this nightmare that would really scare me, i'll tell ya'll bout it later if you remind me to.) anyways... i would always think that i would want to be dead when it happened....i'm not sure why, i just always thought that.

i know exactly what you mean! i've thought that way too. 'i need to be good so God will love me/save me' - but that's not true! it's by grace alone we're saved - we can never be good enough. x)

aaaaand yet i still feel that way sometimes. 'i'm not good enough to come before God and pray! i'm not good enough, i'm not good enough, i'm not good enough . . . ' lol :)

i don't think i've ever really completely figured out what i want to be the case for me when it happens . . . not that it will matter what i 'figure out' coz God will do what he wants :)

message 7: by Savannah (new)

Savannah i know right. when it came to the end of it...i just thought. he'll do what he'll do....and its his decision. (if that makes sense?)

No. Well, not exactly. God can be in the presence of evil, because Jesus talked to Satan and Jesus is a form of God. I don't know whether God is altogether perfect, and whether that would make Heaven perfect.

No he can't be in evil, Jesus is God's son and not God him self. I believe that God is perfect and that you have to believe and accept that Jesus died on the cross to be saved. God can not look upon us because to him, we are just black sickness or some thing gross (from our sins) but if we believe in Jesus, ask forgiveness. That changes what we look like to God. Jesus is like the middle man so to speak.

Chiara ♪*CheesecakeLover*♪ | 684 comments Also, God is Jesus- have you never heard of the sign of the cross? God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, three in one.

Not all Christian denominations believe that. Some believe that Jesus is only the Son of God, not God himself.

I don't agree with that. Sin (and evil) are things that damage our relationship with God, others, and ourselves. He does not find us disgusting. He understands that we are not perfect and wants us to try to find ways to fix any way that we damage our relationships.

Thats what I meant to say BUT the only way we can have a relationship is though Jesus.

Its kind of hard to wrap your mind around this. Jesus is not God but the Son, and what you say is true but Jesus is who God sent to die for us. There is even the verse's that Jesus is talking to his father, not to him but his father. In the garden when he cried blood because he was afraid of getting crucified. And then when Jesus was on the cross, he said: "About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

Jesus is not talking to him self but his father.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 200 comments Some Christians believe that God has three different parts: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost. They say that Jesus, the Son, was both human and divine. I've heard two other explanations for that line: 1) Jesus, the Son, was addressing the Father; and 2) The human part of Jesus was addressing God.

I don't know what my opinion on this is.

That is perfectly true, Jesus spoke to his father. He is a separate being to God. But they are connected in a spiritual way- Jesus has God's powers. You can have a relationship to both of them.

message 27: by Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (last edited Jul 29, 2010 06:42PM) (new)

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 200 comments But even if non-Christians are able to get to Heaven without following Christianity, those who were Christians still have a benefit: they have had the opportunity to develop their relationship with God throughout however much of their life they believed, which is a reward in itself.

Also, I believe that Hell is being separated from God. When we die, we have the option to continue/start developing a relationship with God, or to not be with Him. He does not force us to be with Him.

Katie I don't know about the new president thing. If the press could blame "W" for Katrina when it was the responsiblity of the local and state government to ask for help and yet they let "O" have an out on the oil drilling disaster. I mean the feds inspect those platforms and certify them. Then the government wouldn't allow Gov. Jindal to build barriers to protect the wet lands from the oil spill and "O" still isn't blamed... He has it made. The only challenge that he has is if Hillary leaves her post to run against him. People that left the Clinton's camp to support "O" will come back in droves and unite the Dems and moderates to get things accomplished.
The republicans will still be spinning their wheels and not gaining any tractions. The best that the republicans have is Romney and at this time the Evangelicals and African Americans (the few that vote rep.) will not vote for a Mormon based upon the beliefs that the Mormons have held in the past and present.

but they are relevant. If you believe in God, then you love him right? Well God says in his word, that if you truly love him, you will obey and do what he says in his law.
