James pushed his hat backwards as he rested his right elbow on the saddle horn. the chesnut horse panted from under him and he murrmured a few cooling words as he glanced over his herd of cattle.
James ran a hand over his forhead and nodded to his rnach hands. The men were tired from haveing woken up at 3 that morning. it was now noon and even James was ready to head in.
"I'm out to town." James said to his freind Tanner."I'll come." he offered.
"Alright."James said with a shrug. they Left the other hands at the barn and began to take a trail towards the town.
James rode quietly while Tanner expressed good ideas for the ranch."...and I was think' if we pushed the cattle more north we can get them to that wide medow?"
Tanner horse shied at the sound but remained calm. James looked around, interested. Why would a gun be going off so close to the town?
Tanner glanced from the high perch on the hill."Two women, James," he pointed out. James nodded.
"trouble?"
Tanner cocked an eyebrow.
"When isnt' there?"
DEcing the women would be fine, James rode off towards the town where the shot had been fired. Tanner kept close behind him but also glanced over his shoulder every now and then.
james burst into the town to find a man lieing deadin the middle of the road. the sheriff was holstering his gun smoothly and glaring at any who approuched."That man pulled a gun out on me first." He said coldly. Be out on your own buisness."
James scowled and got of his horse. He squated by the dead man and closed his eyes.
"That isn't George, si it?" Tanner asked, sickened.
"Every banker has his day." James said and he slowly stood. "Today wasn't his."
((I got it! Katrina's to retrieve a hundred of the finest breed of Western stock! She has to herd them from Montana to the coast of California where they'll be shipped to China!))
John watched from the bazaar porch as the Sheriff holstered his pistol. Another man dead, an omen that today would be headin' in for trouble.

((That's it! Unfortunately she's very average when it comes to herding cows so she has to hire some cowboy hands to help her. Unfortunately they're all too expensive so she turns to John, James, Tanner, and Chloe for help! But she has to hurry because the mountain pass will be frozen by the end of the season.))
"Call a priest," He ordered the bartender. John headed out and picked up the dead body, heading for the church to meet the priest.

John nodded and placed the body over the saddle. "That's mighty kind of ya miss. It ain't often that we see the chinese out in these parts."
Tanner shook with fury. Geroge pull a gun out?! HA! He probably didn't want to give the often drunk sheriff anymore money. What he wuld give to have a fster hand with guns. He shoot that twisted scum so much that he'd sink with all the lead in his body...
"A good sense of honor too, hard to find such a fine lass this far out west," John smiled grimly. "Looks like George here didn't have a very good chance 'gainst the Sheriff though." John gave a tug on the reins and led the horse up the hill where father Joseph would be waiting.
The sheriff had shuffled back to the jail where he would taunt the prisoners for awhile. James ignored the thought of a challenge to the sheriff and instead followed some of the townspeople up to where they would bury George. Tanner had informed the wife and she was sobbing softly next tot eh horse John was leadning.
"Darn Sheriff just ain't gonna lay off these people. Several have tried to head back East where someone of higher authority can take him down. But there aren't any who've made it," John explained, looking back towards the sheriff's office.
"I might take the trip myself." James said gruffly. "I'm sick of ridin' to town to find good men dead on th street."
"Sure. Any means to get some real authority over here. I've already got soem Ranch hands to look over the Lone Tree ((his ranch)). So why not?" James asked, warming u to the idea.
"Then i have a way you see, I'm acually Katrina Sue Yie. Abassitor to the emporir and I need 100 of the best cattle herded to calafornia but cow herds are really expensive soooo"
"Not with how the word's goin' around ye ain't," John shook his head. "Heard there's bandit's blocking all the roads, and there's hardly any way of getting East with the Sheriff still awake."
"Tanner!" JAmes shouted. Tanner nodded and pulled a rifle out of a holder on his horse. He got on one knee and glanced around. There on a building not to far off. tanner paused, aimed and fired.
There was a shout, and thud and a grunt. Tanner nodded and smiled. "Got his knee."
"Nice shot." James agreed. "Stay here, please.' he said, noting Katrina's sword. "We'll get 'em."
"He won't go anywhere fast." tanner said.
Tanner and James took off. They climbled up the stairs at the saloon and found themselves on the roo. THere, groaning and whimpering was the shooter.
"Looks like we got some hard bandits already in town," John said, glancing around. "Good thing most of the streets are empty, and coincidentally the sheriff ain't nowhere in sight."
