The Tudors
I loved 'The Tudors' seasons 1 and 2.. thought season 3 went real down hill though.. But I will watch season 4 for sure... It's the last season?
yep the first episode aired last Sunday, Henry VIII and Kathryn Howard were married and she immediately was approached by the girls from her sorid past. Anyhow time moves quickly in Tudor time, literally. Henry was married to Cathrine of Arragon for something like 20 years equal to a season and three episodes on Showtime.
I like the Tudors... can get a little dramatic but it's like watching a book on TV... I'm only to the end of Season 2... waiting for season 3 to be ondemand.
Season 3 was more subdued but season 4 made up for it. There's just 8 episodes I believe. Picked up the 3 disks for like six bucks at my local hastings. They finally reveal an aging Henry. A look back at his life. I hadn't realized how much of the Tudor era the series encompassed. It was well done. Loved Charles Brandon, he was my favorite. Sadly, his appearances were minimal.
The Tudors has just come onto our screen here in Australia and I LOVE it. I love Henry VIII which seems really wrong somehow.
...which seems really wrong somehow. Haha, Yes it does Cj. JK.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is just so dashing as Henry you can't help but love him, at first! My opinion though is that Henry VIII was evil, mad even. He truly believed he was divine because God had made him king and chosen him as his emissary. He ruled with an iron hand!
The Tudor series however is visually stunning and wickedly entertaining!
I loved The Tudors too~ But I must admit~ My personal preferance lay with the Duke of Suffolk~ Or should I say~ my personal wish would be to "lay' with the Duke of Suffolk'~ Damn~ Either way, you get my point.
now we are talking... The Duke of Suffolk would make a wonderful Alexander!! Another guy would watch just eating his lunch. Ha!!
I know... we are a pair!! I also thought Eric from true blood would make a good Alexander (with dark hair) he has the height and look. Do you think they will even make either outlander or BH movies? I'm not to sure they will.
Outlander is optioned, rumors are Kate Heigl has thought of playing Claire and supposedly they are trying to begin filming in 2012.Other then it being optioned by Essential Productions, I have no idea how much of this is more then a rumor.
oh i'm part of the Outlander group here on GR and I want to movie made... I'm just wondering if they will every really do it. NO HEIGL
I'd rather see it as an HBO/Starz type series, but wouldn't have a problem with an Outlander movie if it was at least 3 hours minimum or maybe even split into 2 parts like they had to do with both Harry Potter book 7 and Breaking Dawn because of the amount of content. If Outlander was a 2 hour movie it would frustrate me because way too much would be left out.
Or should I say~ my personal wish would be to "lay' with the Duke of Suffolk'~ Damn~ Either way, you g..."Ha ha meee tooo!, I did mention on my first post here Charles Brandon is my favorite! Aka Duke of Suffolk!
Stacia ~ the plucky heroine wrote: "I'd rather see it as an HBO/Starz type series, but wouldn't have a problem with an Outlander movie if it was at least 3 hours minimum or maybe even split into 2 parts like they had to do with both ..."I agree that it has to be a minimum of 3 hours, but split into 2 parts would be even better. The first part could end right when Jamie decides to return to Lallybroch.
Leea-I thought you were, but sometimes I get these two groups confused because there's an Outlander thread here, lol.
Wendy wrote: "Stacia ~ the plucky heroine wrote: "I'd rather see it as an HBO/Starz type series, but wouldn't have a problem with an Outlander movie if it was at least 3 hours minimum or maybe even split into 2 ..."I know... no worries... I get confused as well. I'm part of this group, Outlander and Bronze Horsemen group. I don't think my brain can handle anymore groups. I love love reading all the posts :)
I'm part of this group, the Outlander group, a YA for Adults grp, the James Mason Book Club. The only one I don't post and read every post in is James Mason.
It's a group on goodreads with all different types of readers and genre's. It's not specific to anything. We all just get together and discuss the whole world of books. The guy who started the group is a James Mason fan, so that's why he called it that. It's a large group (3000+ members), lots of activity. Here's a link...

Wow that looks like a huge group... I can hardly keep up with the 3 i have. Thanks for sharing Wendy!
To be honest, I don't post there, lol.I joined when I first started because I got an invite, but it's sooooo much. The topics are all over the place and I feel a bit lost.
I quit and then got another invite, so now I just stay joined and quiet.
well sorry you feel the topics are all over the place... i guess they kinda are sometimes... Like were talking about other groups in the Tudors sections. Sometimes that just happens.Welcome anyways!!

huh! same here..the guy/moderator Rick kept emailing me to join the group - it just got super annoying, I just ended up blocking him and deleting myself from the group (stalker much?!)
hahahaha! That's great. I haven't gotten to that point yet. Now I just ignore the group and keep it. It was pretty freaking that out of 3000+ members he notices when ONE quits!
I'm in a lot of groups, but only actively post in about 5 (maybe 6 now that I think about it). The others I just can't bear to leave because I like seeing what books they're reading on the group's main page. This one, Delirity (a good PNR group because it has topics for most of the series, whereas the mainstream PNR groups really don't), a couple of YA fiction groups, and a general chat group that has nothing to do with books really (Terminal Coffee) are my favorites.
Yay~ Im stoked you guys chose our group amongst your top to stay active in~ Without you all, this group wouldn't be nearly as cool~ Love seeing what you all contribute everyday.
Love the crowd too! Just learned today, Henry Cavill has been cast as the new Superman! There goes our sweet Charles Brandon!
Ladies... the Chin get's me every time... That and i always think of Alexander. Not that it's a bad thing. Man i have the major hots for Mr. Cavill <3
Is it wrong that big cleft chins turn me off? I don't mind a small dent, but the really pronounced ones drive me crazy in a bad way.
haha!! Hey to each HER own... He does try to have it covered in hair most of the time i've noticed... Those eyes Stacia... come on :)
Oh I like Henry Cavill. He's pretty darn sexy. I wasn't even referring to anyone specifically, I was just moreso saying that I don't like the really pronounced cleft chins, since you brought up the topic of chins. There are some that make a man look like his face is his bottom...I have a major thing for Ben Barnes, and he has a small cleft.

I am 33~ UGH~ And I tend to agree with Stacia~ Don't like cleft chins~ However` Cavill is always the exception.
Leea wrote: "haha!! Hey to each HER own... He does try to have it covered in hair most of the time i've noticed... Those eyes Stacia... come on :)"Oh YES! I'll take the Duke of Suffolk any time, cleft chin and all.
You guys are still babies. But I have the whole decade+ in between (Henry and I). It's kinda cougarish. :-)
Shit, I have a T-Shirt that I wear all the time~ With a baby couger that says 'rawr'~ Kinda my uniform. Bring on the coug's!!!
okay so this is a funny little story - off topic but Shell's cougar shirt made me think of it. So i have this group of friends we call ourselves the "Fab 5". So we went out for my friend who was pregnant at the time birthday. Had a great dinner and decided to hit this cool retro bar. Everyone was checking us out and my friend who was pregnant was getting all kinds of hot looks from guys. We had to leave - dang kids :) Her husband informed us we were just at this cougar hang out and everyone goes there to hook up... LOL!! *tears*

it's based on Henry VIII and his six wives who were divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded and survived (luckily). Anyway, the costumes are great, the chemistry building up and the dabble into politics (which is a must for the time) are awesome. Alot of sex for those who like that, Henry was a wee bit of a sex addict or at least thats my thoughts.
Sadly this is the final season but well worth the watching if you can rent it on dvd or you can watch on Showtimes website for free.
