Ann (Noumena12) (noumena12) So why doesn't the BN Member price apply to ebooks? I only occassionally read a BN ebook: typically when it is cheaper than it is on my Kindle or when the book is available at BN and not Amazon. I realized when I went to get the BN book to read on my iTouch, that the paperback edition would be cheaper if I still had my BN membership. Just wondering if someone else has already asked this question. Plus, if the book is the same price (Kindle v. BN), I may read the BN version if I can share it.

Brittany Antal (brittanylovesvampires) | 23 comments I asked them this at barnes and noble and then told me that the member price doesnt apply to ebooks because the price of an ebook is already discounted majorly so the extra member discount doesnt apply. I've notice though that some books really arent discounted much at all. I even saw one ebook that was more than the actual book itself.

yeah, what's with that? I don't understand how they can charge so much when the paperback version is only a few bucks more, or in some cases cheaper.

Jaime The only real discount we receive is when the book is only available in hardcover. Sometime the ebook is cheaper then the mass market paperpack but from what I have seen most of the time the two versions are price almost the same. The question comes down to if you want to carry a paperback or your ereader. I purchased Jaime_Rush's new release as an ebook. I ended up paying more then I would have if I bought a paperback version. I decided having it on my ereader was more convenient for me.

Its pretty annoying and its kind of ridiculous. If they aren't gonna give us the member discount because they claim the prices are so much cheaper then they should actually be so much cheaper...

Jaime We do get $5-$10 or more off of hardcover only new releases. I will say that I will not be renewing my B&N membership in October. There is no point since I plan on buying the majority of my books in ebook format. I honestly think they will loose money in the end. Me, for example, use to buy 4 or 5 books atleast each time I went into the store looking for one book. Which is why I have bookshelfs that are overloading. Now I buy the book on my Nook right before I start reading. My bank account has started to fatten up with unspend book money. Its great!

Same here, i used to go wayyyy overboard with the book buying in store but it made the membership absolutely worth the cost because i was saving so much more in the end, but now that i buy 99% of my books on my nook and we don't get our member discount I probably wont be renewing. Also, I noticed that The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella is cheaper as a hardcover online than the ebook is, but I will most likely buy the hardcover anyway to complete my Twilight collection :)

Jaime HEADS UP:

DO NOT buy The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella if you are getting the ebook format! It will be available for FREE for a month on Meyer's website starting June 6(ish). The printed book proceeds are going to a charity which is a good reason to buy it even though it will be available for free but I dont know if the proceeds of the ebook will also go to charity.

Brittany Antal (brittanylovesvampires) | 23 comments Thanks for the heads up! If proceeds are going to charity then ill definitely buy the printed book.
