Chapter OneOh it's really nice to get back to the roots of this whole thing. I love the how J.K. introducing the story. It really makes you want to read more. It's like, "How the Heck are the Dursleys realted to some guy named Harry Potter?". Awesome job, Jo.
I love how, in the beginning, it is written like a kids story, but the further you get into the book, and the series, it becomes much more adult.
I like that it got older. Except for the fact that my mom make me wait a really long time to finish the series.
Why did she do that? Each one that I could find, I read all the way through without stopping. I think that I had to sleep during the fifth one though. That one's really long.
Well I read the first three in second grade, and she thought the ones after that seemed a bit intense. SO I waited til sixth grade and re-read them all.
Oh okay. I can understand that. My parents didn't mind Harry Potter, but they tried to take Stephen King books away from me when I was younger.
Ok so I finished the book a bit early, so here we go on just some chapter reviews.Chapter Two- This is one of my favorite parts in the book. Dudley's just so funnny. And it just builds up the suspense of the whole "What the heck is wrong with Harry" thing.
Chapter 3- Hogwarts Hogwarts! Mr.Dursley is soooo insane. Humming Tiptoe through the Tuilips and nailing things shut and then running away. Geez, there is something seriously wrong with him.
Chapter 4- HAGIRD! I love hagrid. He's soooo awesome. "I think I may have sat on it but it'll still taste good (referring to Harry's birthday cake)" Cracks me up every time.
Chapter 5- Diagon Alley. We get a glimpse of the shops and things. This is another one of my favorite chapters. It always fascinated me that wizards had their own ice cream shop. With awesome flavors too. We also get to see Malfoy, snotty as ever. The kid is soooo messed up. and the mystery of the Sorcerer's Stone begins.
Chapter 6- Ron Weasley's intro to the world. And every flavor beans, Dubledore, an inkling of Nicholas Flamel, and Hermione and Neville. Quite a big chapter. I love the concept of platform nine and three quarters. It's funny and smart.
Chapter 7- The good ole sorting hat, plus Pro. McGonagal (Again, spelling is off today) again. I love Harry's musings on what if he doesn't get sorted at all.
Chapter 8- Our new Gryiffindors come to hate Snape. Such an important chracter planting seeds that come in later in the story. Foreshadowing rocks.
Chapter 9- It seems funny how Malfoy trys to act soo grown up by challenging Harry to a wizarding duel when he doesn't hardly know anything in the first place. I suddenly had the urge to imagine kicking Mrs.Norris in this chapter. Fun stuff.
Chapter 10- Here's my quote that sums up the chapter while making me laugh " There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve foot mountain troll is one of them."
Chapter 11- Quidditch!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn't it be cool if we could actually follow quidditch games?! Totally awesome. Rowling really has a knack for describing the game.
Chapter Twelve- The Mirror of Esrid. Have you ever notived that's desire backwards? Very smart if you ask me. I love how Ron's got all the awards and things his brothers had and Harry is surrounded by Potter people. Hermione probably would've been a professor or smartest woman in the world. lol.
Chapter 13- Nicolas Flamel. I remember the first time I read this that I thought it was nearly headless nick for sometime. It seems Nancy Drew had tried to sink in. Didn't work.
Chapter 14- Hagrid raises Norbert. This was another of my favorite parts. I've always associated dragons and wizards together so I was always pleased with that. We also get to see another Weasly, which excites me 'cause they're my favorites.
Chapter 15- The unicorns and centaurs come into play here. Unicorn blood was another imaginitive touch from Rowling. Hagrid shows off his awesomeness of knowledge here.
Chapter sixteen- Fluffy, flying keys, Devil's Snare, potions, enchanted chess???? Gah this woman is a genius..
Chapter 17- AHHH!! SCARY! VOLDEMORT+QUIRELL!!!!! I couldn't stop laughing because I have seen a very Potter musical and the quirrel Voldy scenes there were too funny. I'll post the link to that part later. Omg, I loved reading it and thinking about the musical. And Dumbledore and Harry's relationship develops near the end. That's always fun.
And so I have finished Potter number one. Full of stuttering, three headed dogs, jerking broomsticks, and snotty eleven year olds.

Todays thing: Chapters 1 through 3.
