Lol Vale, the only way to describe that cliffhanger would be "beyond brutal". I think I finished the last page and freaked out. haha. I don't like being tortured by authors! Some cliffhangers I can deal with, but not huge ones.

I did like seeing what happened to Mac. It amazed me that of all the people to save Mac, it was Dani. I love those 2 together. I loved it when Barrons came and got her and just how he "cured" her. It was even better when he would remind Mac about it. I think that along the way Barrons has fallen for Mac.I did like it when Mac was on her own in the slivers and finally called IYD. I am dying to know who was the beast. I really hope it wasn't Barrrons.
I also love how flip Mac seems to be when naming things. It goes with her personality and it is funny how those around her like her names.
This one is my favorite- despite the fact I wanted to pull my hair out at the ending!!! (Actually, Dreamfever became a sanity saver and something altogether precious to me. My father passed away recently and I re-read it between all the activity. I totally escape into her world when I read it and it was much needed at that time- if only for the moment.)
OH and I got a co-worker to start the series and she became as obsessed as me! (From the beginning I told her that by the time she got to the end of DF she was gonna want to kill me for getting her to start it so far ahead of when Shadowfever is due to be released- and I was right, she most certainly did! lol! But she was glad I turned her onto it and even got her sister hooked on it too! haha!)
Yay! I finished Dreamfever. Darn that was a good series! I read all 4 in one week!!! I am happy I can read other threads now in this group because before I did not want to accidentally read any spoilers so I did not read too many threads (other than the book thread I was reading at the time).I do have a question though.. It may be a stupid question but it bugged me. The F word. Why does she use Feck a lot then other times use the actually F work. Never heard the word feck before. Anyone know?

It is. I just read a book where the Irishman pronounced it "fokking". Must just be variations in slang spelling.
Sammy wrote: "Not sure why she says Feck. *shakes head* too each is own I guess. So Toni- Now that you've read them all which is your fave?"Dreamfever! How about you?
Okay so it has been a few days since I finished Dreamfever and I am feeling depressed. It feels like I am having withdrawls or something. I cannot believe I am depressed lol. Has anyone else felt this way? I definitely will do a re-read once we get closer to December.
Hee! Toni you are not alone! I call it the post-awesome-book Blues. I definitely experienced that with this series and am chomping at the bit for it to be December already!!
Any other series you feel this way with?I am currently reading the Night Huntress series (on book 2) and I know everyone raves about it but I am not feeling it like I did with the Fever series. Not yet anyway. I mean I like it but I miss Mac and Barrons. I like the "hard to get" type relationship (Mac and Barrons). Bones and Cat just jumped right in are were in love practically immediately....I think I should have read the Night Huntress series first.

I also love the Vampire Academy series and the Georgina Kinkaid series - both by Richelle Mead. I rarely have my heart pounding/dropping/crying at books, but the twists in those books did it for me.. I also think the Hunger Games series is fabulous.
Nah, that's completely normal! After Dreamfever and the last Harry Potter book I definitely felt a very real sense of loss... Which resulted in me re-reading all of them again...Toni wrote: "Okay so it has been a few days since I finished Dreamfever and I am feeling depressed. I read Hunger Games last year and I did not like it...Kids having to kill each other. Adults are okay but not kids. Freaks me out since I have young kids. LOL.
I just re-read the 1st couple of chapters in DREAMFEVER and I totally missed something the 1st time I read it and was kinda scary for me to read. The 4th rapist was "tender"??? WTF?

I LOVED The Hungergames and Catching Fire. Great books!

OMG, now I am going to have to reread it. Was the 4th rapist Darroc? Hmmm... who do you guys think it is?
That's what I have always thought. That it was Darroc, but the tender thing is kinda creepy. BUT, Darroc did seem to really love/care about Alina...IDK...that's all F'ed up!
I know, the fact that it seems to be that Darroc and Mac are making out would be kinda sad to me because I liked the fact that Darroc seemed to love Alina, even if he is/was evil. It is creepy that it was tender. I am about to reread that part, maybe that book, later.
I know this is way out in left field, but I think the fourth rapist may have been V'Lane. I think he may be the one that Alina referenced in her voicemail - saying she thought he was helping her, but he is one of them. We know that she didn't really trust Darroc (even if she did love him) because she told him her parents were dead; and when she talked to him about Mac, she said that Mac was a friend.
tender?! okay i would have totally missed that if you hadn't pointed that out. I'm actually really bad at making up theories.. i'm more good with reading a book and knowing what happens in the end so i can't say who i think the fourth rapist is, but tenderly?! what the hell???okay, i have no idea if any of you guys have discussed this already cos i'm a kind of a noobie in this group, but in Dreamfever (which is awesome by the way) there's a bit where Barrons kills Fiona because she was going to say something... obviously he kills her so we don't know what it was but it goes like this:
Barrons: “Why are you here, Fiona? To show me you have a new lover? To beg to return to my bed? It’s full, and always will be. To apologize for trying to destroy the one chance I had by killing her?"
Mac: “The one chance you had for what?”
Fiona:“Ah, such delicious absurdity! She still doesn’t know. Oh, Jericho! You never change, do you? You must be so afraid—”
and she's dead...
so... any ideas?
but what Fiona said was brought on because Barrons said: To apologize for trying to destroy the one chance I had by killing her?
do you think he was talking about Alina? i hope not but i'm starting to remember in Darkfever there was something that Barrons said about not assuming who the killer is when Mac said that Darroc was the killer
if it's not alina, then who is he talking about?
He actually didn't kill Fiona, there is a part in the chapter afterwards where Mac says that is obvious he went to see Fiona after she went to bed... or something like that. He just stabbed her!
Ugh. Fiona. I guess it was wishful thinking that someone did away with her. What's the dude's name that she hooked up with. Dang it, I can't remember his name. The one that bullied Mac. Drawing a blank here....

Ok I finally got book 4 so I'm joining the discussion late. The V'lane as the fourth sex fae sounds plausible. I have a hard time figuring out if he is bad or good, but I really like him, so I hope that whatever evil intentions he harbors towards Mac are changed out of love or caring for her.
I loved the whole part of the book with Mac as Pri-ya and how she fought her way back to sanity, but felt let down that her first real encounter with Barrons was sort of rushed into because of it. It was almost like - oh wait, was that Barrons that she was just with? -.
I almost wish that she had gotten a first time with Barrons before the Pri-ya incident. They could have had a reckless night together, then Barrons would have backed off as usual, before she was captured by the Fae and the Pri-ya incident happened...
I think a lot of us feel the same way about Mac and Barrons first time, Stacia. I would have loved to see Barrons be with Mac because of his feelings for her not because it was a "must". KMM has given us the some of the best sexual tension I have ever read between an H/H. I think we deserve a big payoff for being subjected to years of torture waiting for Barrons and Mac to finally be together. Really together.
Sammy wrote: "When you think about it Barrons did choose to help Mac because he cared. He could have left her in the cells. Or let V'Lane take care of her."I know he cares about her. I just wish their first time was done in different circumstances. I really want to see Barrons put his feelings out there and make them known to Mac (and us).
Yeah, you definitely have to read between the lines when it comes to Barrons. You never know if he truly cares or has an alterior motive for some of the things he does. That's what makes him such a great mystery. Can't wait to find out how it ends!
i wouldve loved to see barrons put his feeling out there too, but he is very stubborn.but i like that he is stubborn, makes me like him more!
i knoe. i knoe. me too! there r 2 books that iam living and dying to read in 2011 and that's shadowfever and this side of the grave. both have such long waits from the last book that was out in the series. im gonna go crazy when i get these books!
I am not sure if it's already been answered, so forgive me if it has been...Who do we think was the beast? I was screaming at the end of this book....Barron is so obviously in love with Mac...Why doesn't she see it? And wasn't 'the boy' a representation of Mac in Barron's mind?...Or am I way off base? Who else thinks that V'Lane is bad?
Thanks Vale..I just saw that and was reading...Thanks for turning me on to this series....It is great! I am now addicted..lol

Yes, The Vampire Acadamy, Georgina Kincaid- Succubus Blues series, Keri Arthurs Riley Jensen series and the Shifters series about were cats. I couldn't put these down and have re-read them all. Intense, well written and kick butt. Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson is pretty good too.
Fiona is still alive! She has been eating unseelie and only the sword or spear can kill her. Barrons stabbed her to keep her quiet because she was about to share info in front of Mac.
A few other awesome series areShifters - Rachel Vincent
Riley Jensen Guardian series - Keri Arthur
Richelle Meads 2 series Vampire Academy and Succubus Blues
Georgian Kincaid series
Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series.
Dreamfever comes out in paperback on October 26, 2010. I know a lot of you are buying the hardbound copy, but I personally like holding a paperback to read.
i would love to get paperback but if i buy one thing theres no way i would switch over. like in a series if i buy the first book is hardback all the rest has to be hardback or it will drive me crazy....i havent bought any in this series yet but ill be buying shadowfever and it comes out in hardback first and they is no way in hell im waiting for paperback or waiting fot it at the library. but i do like both paperback and hardback pros and cons for both of them though.
I feel the same, Martha. I just re-listened to the part where Mac meets him in the bar. He keeps talking about life and death and saying he'd rather have a good book. Wasn't the 4th prince who "died" supposed to represent death? And anybody talking about books in this series automatically makes me suspicious, you know? I think the 4th prince has taken over the DEB's body, and maybe the image speaking to Mac in the mirror and telling her not to speak to the unidentified "it" was the real boy trying to warn her not to trust what she sees.
I am currently rereading Dreamfever and I'm at the end of chapter 11, where Dani describes the 8 other "men" with Barrons when he rescued Mac. It almost sounds like they are Berserkers. (For those who read book #2, you know what I'm talking about). Although I don't think that's what Barrons is. I thought this the first time I read it, but forgot all about it. Does anyone know if KMM has denied this possibility?
I really think the 4th person is hte blurry eyed biy. i think Darroc was there though. Mac thinks he might be War. She has a question mark after that. He hides his face. This is what make me think he is the blurry person. "As he fills my body he quenches my thirst. Then it says she convulses. What did she drink? "In the distance someone barks commands" I think this is Darroc. Is the blurry eyed guy the UK?
The reason I didn't think Barrons was the 4th right away is because Mac says the 4th prince has hands of fire and whenever Barrons touches her she gets the chills. It has to be someone who practices Druidry or dark magic because they have the trademark tattoo, one of the things Mac remembers about him. So that means Christian, Darroc, Dreamy eyed boy or Ryodan (whom I don't think it is either). I don't think it was Darroc either, my bets are on Dreamy eyed boy.
