Darcy (sunnytat462) He has grown on me as the series has gone on. He is good at manipulation with Mac. I like how he has learned human aspects that he thinks will make Mac like him better. I also like how after being cured of being Pryia, V'Lane doesn't have any hold over her any longer.

message 2: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (alannarey) | 15 comments I love V'lane (if you have read the Anita Blake books this will make sense) is with Barrons, mixed together in sexyness and arogance and hotness minus the fangs and long hair with a hot body, Jean-Claude I love him but adore Barrons better though I wouldnt mind keeping V'lane in my closet too.

message 3: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (thebookwarrioress) | 130 comments I love V'lane, too. I like Barrons better, of course, but I love V'lane so much. And I am not going to lie, the way he gives his name to her is hot!!!!

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments Oh yeah, Nicole. That is way hot! I think I would use his name more often just so he could reinstate it. LOL!

I do love Barrons overall but I wouldn't mind seeing V'Lane get his own story at some point.

message 5: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (thebookwarrioress) | 130 comments I don't think he is a bad guy, but that teaser with V'lanes army and the narrator's (whoever that was) seemed like things are a-changin! But it seemed like V'lanes army was good, but maybe simply the fact he is seelie made it seem so.

I totally agree Jessa I couldn't help using his name... haha

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments I don't think V'Lane is all that bad either. He tries to do the "human" thing even though he doesn't always understand what that consists of. At least he gives it some effort.

message 7: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (thebookwarrioress) | 130 comments I don't know I always just thought he was a riot. I still love JZB best, but sometimes when he yells at Mac a little bit, and especially the pink cake scene,he just breaks my heart and makes me appreciate V'lane's role in the series.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments Nicole wrote: "I don't know I always just thought he was a riot. I still love JZB best, but sometimes when he yells at Mac a little bit, and especially the pink cake scene,he just breaks my heart and makes me app..."

Yeah, Barrons is hard to take sometimes. He is so closed up. I really hope Mac is going to be the one that breaks completely through the walls that Barrons has built up.

message 9: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (thebookwarrioress) | 130 comments I agree. But if he is the UK, I dont know... god I can't even speculate about what's going to happen!

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments Noooo......I refuse to believe he's the UK. Seriously, I really hope he isn't.

message 11: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (thebookwarrioress) | 130 comments I cant get us off topic bc I love JZB, we are in a V'lane thread! Mac can have JZB (I hate to give him up but they are meant to be) and I will settle for V'lane... haha.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments Nicole wrote: "I cant get us off topic bc I love JZB, we are in a V'lane thread! Mac can have JZB (I hate to give him up but they are meant to be) and I will settle for V'lane... haha."

It's so easy for us to get off topic. Shame on us. LOL

message 13: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 146 comments I don't trust V'lane. I think he's creepy and very manipulative.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments He just doesn't have much of a conscience. None of the Fae do. In their minds they are above humans so I don't think he necessarily does it on purpose, its just the way his mind works.

message 15: by Marissa (last edited Jun 29, 2010 12:16PM) (new)

Marissa (millionmph) | 237 comments I like V'Lane but I'm one of the ones who thinks he is up to no good. There isn't enough actions to back up his 'trust me' ideas.
It could also answer quite a few questions if he does end up on the not so good side!

message 16: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 146 comments Jessa wrote: "He just doesn't have much of a conscience. None of the Fae do. In their minds they are above humans so I don't think he necessarily does it on purpose, its just the way his mind works."

yeah, i think all the fae are looking out for #1 (themselves)
There are too many secrets in this book. Every character, aside from Christian and maybe Danni, has kept to themselves too much. You don't know anyone's true motive. Even Mac lies to herself about her feelings for JZB.

message 17: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 146 comments Someone's gotta be the bad guy! LOL.

What would you do if KMM ended it w/ V'lane and Mac??? I don't think that's going to happen bcs of the deleted scene, but I wonder what ppl's reactions would be to this?

Me...I think I would just say great...JZB IS MINE! Lmao.

message 18: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 146 comments nah!!! It will NEVER happen!
I just re-read the deleted scene again and I definately think kmm has got some hot and steamy coming from the JZB/Mac corner.

message 19: by Marissa (new)

Marissa (millionmph) | 237 comments Just as long as hot and steamy Mac/Barrons isn't the lead in for V'Lane coming in, killing Barrons and kidnapping Mac to a white mansion with lots of mirrors. (I don't really want this to happen, I just like thinking evil sometimes! =)

message 20: by Marissa (new)

Marissa (millionmph) | 237 comments LOL Yes the waiting is whats making me think such awful thoughts! My minds wanders and its not a pretty sight.

message 21: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 146 comments lmao @ marissa. yeah, they get right to the precipice of action and here comes along V'lane and his army of pretty colors to trample barrons, slice good ole' Christians throat and takes Mac to be the queen and his consort, caged by "the song" or whatever...

we would see multiple death threats if that happened!

I know Vale!!! I almost hope it's violent when it happens, too!!

Are you trying to say you haven't had some sort of play out in your head of things that will come?? Come on, We all know you're having dirty thoughts about Barrons!!!

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) | 151 comments OH yeah, I have dirty thoughts about Barrons. But they mostly consist of him nekked. ;-)

message 25: by Jesslynn (new)

Jesslynn | 146 comments dancing to tubthumping???? hahahaha

Of course! He can sing-along too!

message 27: by kc (4saintjude) (new)

kc (4saintjude) (4saintjude) | 13 comments I find it tricky to describe my feelings for V'lane (beyond how hot he is of course). When he mentions understanding Adam (Black that is) is when I begin to see him as a potential hero, an actual contender in the love triangle. It was as if he transcended being Fae enough to understand real emotion.

I sometimes think his 'improved' human expressions Mac talks about in Dreamfever are actually authentic - that he has developed these human emotions through his care for Mac. As a cruel twist, maybe having more human emotions will make it even more possible for him to end up being the bad guy in the end.

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 74 comments Interesting tidbit: I just re-read that V'lane was creator of the Wild Hunt. Wonder if that will come up later...

where is this deleted scene? the one from the CD? is there anyway to post it? i know lady vale said she didnt have it, i think

message 30: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 74 comments From Wikipedia:

"The Wild Hunt is an ancient folk myth prevalent across Northern, Western and Central Europe.[1:] The fundamental premise in all instances is the same: a phantasmal group of huntsmen with the accoutrements of hunting, horses, hounds, etc., in mad pursuit across the skies or along the ground, or just above it."

Seeing the Wild Hunt was thought to presage some catastrophe such as war or plague, or at best the death of the one who witnessed it. Mortals getting in the path of or following the Hunt could be kidnapped and brought to the land of the dead. A girl who saw Wild Edric's Ride was warned by her father to put her apron over her head to avoid the sight. Others believed that people's spirits could be pulled away during their sleep to join the cavalcade.

So in my thinking, if V'lane created the Hunt, why isn't it running thorough Ireland right about now?

message 31: by Dinjolina (new)

Dinjolina Darn. :(
I hated what happened to him.

message 32: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 11 comments ****Spoiler for Shadowfever***
Question. Is it just me or does V'Lane sound an awful lot like villain? How did I miss that? Moning pulled a Disney. lol

message 33: by Dinjolina (new)

Dinjolina I still like him.

***Big spoiler***
At the end when he was frozen and Kat was going all 'We don't want him!' i told the book a lot of times 'Well, could I have him? Please?' :)

@Lady Vale-finished with the book?

Lisarenee | 11 comments **************Big Spoilers**********************
Dinjolina,
See that is the danger in having a naked Fae being the holder of the "book". There will always be someone willing to thaw the man out. lol I must admit I was very sad that V'Lane was truly a villain.

message 36: by Dinjolina (new)

Dinjolina V'lain gong all bad and rapist?
Yeah.
But I tell my self he did 'love' Mac.
He did.
He did damn you!
Ok, he didn't show it for real. And it seems he did kind of use her.
Ok, not 'kind of'. He used her.
But would it be more poetic if he did love her a bit and just thought he was due all of what he wanted?
And that he was jealous of himself because of his love-like-something ?
:dreams:

I was sad too. :(
Barrons is great, but he did not really develop in his relationship with Mac in this book.
Their final togetherness is just plastered out there.
You can see it in the ending.
Barrons grilling his own stake? For Macs parents? Are they having a picnic too?
Is he wearing a kiss the cook apron?
Give me a brake.

message 38: by Lisarenee (last edited Jan 22, 2011 07:44PM) (new)

Lisarenee | 11 comments Do you remember the recurring theme/statement at the end of the book? This is something I've seen declared in a couple of books now:

"Evil is bad that believes it's good."

That sentence sums up V'Lane. He finds a way to excuse himself for the crime. Mind you the following are not direct quotes.
- Well, I wasn't the only one/what could one more hurt?
- Well, she really wanted to do it with me any way.

The other thing to keep in mind is he did a similar thing with the Queen/Concubine. He made her forget his father and then screwed her over too claiming she loved it.

V'Lane thinks extremely high of himself and feels he deserves everything he wants. So in a warped way he may have had feeling for her, but I think the only one he really loves may be himself.

It was very difficult to have such a likable character end up being so bad. :(

message 39: by Dinjolina (new)

Dinjolina You are completely right!
But I...well...i like him still.
I like the evil book too.
I'm a sucker for badness :)
But I didn't like him not being blond! lol :)

message 40: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 11 comments But I bet he still looks good. lol

message 41: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (thesa) | 136 comments I'm sad about it too, because it's like he never really existed. I think Mac should have expressed some feelings about it at the end, because they did develop a friendship. I was never team V'lane, but I feel like that relationship was stolen from Mac.

message 42: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jan 25, 2011 10:11PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 73 comments Probably don't need a spoiler warning at this point, but in case someone is only on book 1 or something and poking into this thread...

***Spoilers***
That's how I feel. It's like he never "was." I was honestly sad at the turn of events.

I'm wavering between angry at what happened, and fully capable of forgiving it, because after all, no book can have everything wrapped up in a neat little bow and handed to us on a silver platter. The realist in me says that villains need to exist. The emotional side of me mourns my V'lane. No, he wasn't meant for Mac, but I still really liked him and hoped he'd come back in the spinoff as someone getting their own chance at love, much like Adam Black's transformation.

message 43: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 11 comments ********SPOILERS******
Totally agree with you Stacia. I was looking forward to a V'Lane book. :( Also, I was looking forward to finding out about the dreamy eyed guy. No future in that story now. Well, maybe she could do a short story? There is still a lot we don't know about him.

message 44: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenlopez1283) | 6 comments I would love to read V'Lanes POV

Samina The Story Devourer | 28 comments After Shadow fever I started to like Vlane more that I ever did in the other books. The book gave him so much more depth and character...before he was just a pretty prince wanting to do the right thing which is kinda boring.
After reading the post by KMM i like him even more...weird?..well thats me.

message 46: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (shinhbang) | 43 comments If Mac doesn't want V'lane (she acts like she doesn't) then I want him! From the first book, I've liked him so much because he just seems so much nicer than Jericho. V'lane is sweet, sexy, and hot as hell. I'd like him to come back someday.

I hadn't looked at him that way. I always thought he was a pretty face and in the last book, a criminal too. But KMM's alternate viewpoint gives him quite a few qualities that I'd be interested in pursuing further. The only thing I'll never forgive him for raping Mac.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok, I currently reading FaeFever and I love the whole V'Lane & Barrons Triangle, so I don't want any spoilers, though I'm tempted to read more comments! But all I want to know is does V'Lane and Mac end up having sex? I don't want to know the situation behind it, I just want to know if they had sex with him basically just a yes or no answer will be fine. (If that were the case ,I know Barrons will be really jealous!!! Sexy!)
