Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I'm not going to set an exact number but I am going to do as many as a can, my aim is a book a week (10days max) and I want to see how I get on and though this would be a good way to keep track.

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments So far this year I have had a bit of a mix with new reads and re-reads and this is what I have finished so far, not much compared to most on here but it’s a big step for me to get me back to where I enjoy being (immersed in books).

1. Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4) by Stephenie Meyer
2. Driven to Distraction by Jeremy Clarkson
3. Honor Among Thieves by Jeffrey Archer (again for the umptenth time)
4. Interview with the Vampire (Vampire Chronicles 1) by Anne Rice (again)
5. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by A.N. Roquelaure (again for a quick read)
6. Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris
7. Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward
8. Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward (going to do the rest in the series as a buddy read)
9. Betrayal (Immortal Games, # 1) by Elisa Adams (for a quick read)
10. Wicked (Immortal Games, # 2) by Elisa Adams (as above, for a quick read)

message 3: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Thanks Jo. I'm curious how many I can actually read too.

message 4: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments That's my thoughts exactly. So many on here get through loads but as long as I do my own goals I'll be happy. So far we are in week 17 and I am nearly up to 11 books.

message 5: by Kimberley (last edited Apr 27, 2010 06:53AM) (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I didn't know how many to expect but I was hoping it was more, it was the first one of the year that threw it as it took ages to read. Really trying for a book a week now and if I want a quick read there are always my favs that I like reading again. I should finish Immortal Games: Prey today as it has just started to tie the previous 2 in and then I have the last few chapters of As You Do: Adventures with Evel, Oliver, and the Vice-President of Botswana that I have been reading on and off for about a year (is too big to carry round) so that will bump my total up to 13. I'm trying to get through a lot of books I have before buying more (and a lot aren't even on my list yet) as for the last 20 years for every birthday etc I get at least 20 books. I read more when hubby isn't off work as when he is working lates I get my me time too.

message 6: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I will, good news is a friend is dragging hubby to a beer festival tonight so as soon as little legs is down the night is mine. I have a lot of books by Elisa Adams and they are all less than 75 pages so will soon get the total bumped up (hope it doesn't look back that most are paranormal erotica, lol).
In all the books I have I don't have The Count of Monte Cristo

message 7: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments That's my intention, lol. I also have a few other short ones knocking around too.
I see your problem with The Count, read the synopsis and it looks heavy going.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Jo wrote: "...Wow i wish people got me books for my birthdays!..."

Put a public wish list up on Amazon. I keep mine up & reminding the kids about it. So far, no luck, but we can hope!

message 9: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 11. Immortal Games Prey by Elisa Adams

message 10: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I always sucked at it too. It took me 5 years to quit buying my wife pierced earrings. She doesn't have pierced ears. I'd go looking for something for her & conveniently forget that, though.

Worse, wait until you get to my age. My wife & I have a terrible time buying for each other now. We have almost everything we want or, at least, can afford. Our 28th wedding anniversary is only a week or so away & I'm completely clueless as to what to get her.

message 11: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm dense about some things. I never notice when she gets her hair cut, either. Somehow, she manages to put up with me anyway. I guess that's why they call it love. Completely incomprehensible.

message 12: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 12. The Vicious Bunny Translations by William Allegrezza

message 13: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 13. As You Do Adventures with Evel, Oliver, and the Vice-President of Botswana by Richard Hammond

Finished my half way, pick up and put down book, roll of tomorrow.

ms.petra (mspetra) | 39 comments Jo wrote: "The Count is over 1000 pages so you can see my problem! I suggest reading all of those short ones lol. Aslong as you scatter in a few other genres then it won't look too bad!"

The audio version of Count is wonderful... it is the only way I can get through a fat tome these days!

message 15: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 14 Apocalypse 2012 A Scientific Investigation into Civilization's End by Lawrence E. Joseph

I needed something last week and was given this, heavy going but kept my mind busy. Back to the challenge which due to circumstances will run into June

message 16: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 15. A Quiver Full of Arrows by Jeffrey Archer

16. Thomas the Tank Engine The Complete Collection by W. Awdry bedtime stories for my son, I still read the lot so still counts

17. The World of Pooh The Complete Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner (Pooh Original Edition) by A.A. Milne bedtime stories for my son, I still read the lot so still counts

message 17: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 18. Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian Wasn't struck on this and found it hard to finish.

message 18: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 19. Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan

message 19: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments My aim is more to see how many I can do, probably 40 at the minute.

message 20: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Thanks Jo

message 21: by Kimberley (last edited Jun 28, 2010 05:43AM) (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 20. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Hitchhiker's Guide, #1) by Douglas Adams (again)

message 22: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments If you are talking about the new movie, not really, the book is far better, the bbc did a series on the first book and although it was obviously a low budget programme it was exactly as per the discription in the book.

There is talk of the next book in the series being done but after the time that has passed I think it may have been shelved.

message 23: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Give it a go, it's sort of sci fi but funny, hard to explain. Like many though I would try and read the book before watching the film (the film ruins it), Adams has a good knack for being descriptive without going ott, the picture he paints is fantastic.

message 24: by Kasia (new)

Kasia (kasia_s) I just started a journal ( for books only) writing down when I finish a book and if it's part of series and star rating I give it, just to see what I read though the year once I am done with 2010..33 books so far and lots more to go :)

message 25: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 21. Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead

message 26: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Liked it but thought the ending was a little dissapointing, felt like it had been rushed. I got this in e-book format (offer at Waterstones) so also got the first chapter of the second one, sounds good so think I'll stick with the series. A lot of reveiws have said this is one of the poorer ones of the series and that the later books look better, hope they are.

message 27: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I had heard a lot of mixed reviews before I read it and the overveiw caught me.
I'm now on the Vampire Diaries (started a while ago so want to finish) and then I'm going to move on to Stieg Larsson's Millenium Series, someone sent me the books to work (this has happened a lot and I wish I knew who it was) and the reviews I have seen have been very good.

message 28: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments 22. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling

This is Kim's hubby, she will explain this one later

message 29: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Firstly - The Harry Potter I picked up from a charity shop whilst I was away (personal business), I have read the last 4 Harry Potters so thought it would keep me occupied and I could at least complete the series.
I am now about 3/4 of my way through the second one (please don't think badly of this choice, it was an easy read and kept me occupied)

Next I have another to add to my list

23. The Awakening (The Vampire Diaries, #1) by L.J. Smith

message 30: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I think it suffers first book of a series syndrome and having watched the TV series it wasn't what I thought but having been left on a cliffhanger I am at least going to read the next book, I found it (once I had some time) a quick and easy read, I didn't have to think too much and at the minute that is what I need. Did you start the millenium series yet? I have it downloaded on my reader ready and am really looking forward to it.

message 31: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I want to get a few that I have half read out and then I will be starting in, I estimate at my current and renewed reading rate that I'll be on it by the middle to the end of August. I have been told so many great reveiws about it though, not only on line but from friends and family (I think I must be one of the last to read it LOL)

message 32: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Thanks Jo, it will be lovely to chat to someone reading this for the first time. I know that the series was a big hit in Sweden (our head office is in Sweden) and when I go over there it seams still to be in the top selling list, even here at least 1 of them is always on the top ten shelf in WH Smiths. I asked my step-father whose books these were like, he said nothing compares to it but as I read Jeffery Archer and John Grisham he would be surprised If I didn't like it. Apparently it is a little gruesome and graphic in places.

message 33: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Me too. Even more of an excuse to finish the others to get to this :-)

message 34: by Kimberley (new)

Sorry to all as I haven't been on much, been a bad few weeks with my mum and now my work has been broken into last week so pretty chaotic and will be for a while.

message 38: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Thanks Nick, I needed that. :-)

message 39: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Thanks Jo.

Works should be a little better next week as replacement equipment arrives, only thing is I don't like being in on my own now, never bothered me before but since the break in I just don't feel .... ok with it, probably the thought of some stranger going through my papers or things that I leave at work, what upsets me is knowing that someone has been looking at the photos of my son on my desk.

message 40: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments Hey Jo, sorry for it being a while between replies, took the weekend off and away from all tech.
It all depends on what is happening, sometimes if we are really busy I'll end up in at a weekend alone, other times if sales are busy on site visits I'll be on my own during normal hours, I don't mind to much during the week as there are other people in the building (shared building) but at weekend there isn't anyone. I know what you are saying and part of me says that they wouldn't have come into the office if someone is in, as for them not doing the same place twice well our break in was the second in as many months, last time it was the suite below us. As our landlords can't seem to get their act together in relation to security we may end up moving.
I'm not going to let it get to me, will just work from home LOL.

message 41: by Kimberley (new)

Kimberley (trillianne) | 65 comments I would love to work from home, would see more of Nathan (perhaps get less work done, more fun to play peek-boo).
