The Far East Book Group discussion

I'd recommend Pearl of China, a novel by Anchee Min about Pearl S. Buck's growing up in China and the beginning of her writing. Though it's written as fiction, it does have some details about the times Buck lived there, her missionary parents, her marriage and child, and her writing about the Chinese people. I'm enjoying it very much and find it very informational as well as good writing and very easy to read.

Great book ! I loved it !

I read Empress Orchid earlier this year; it was smooth writing. Nothing like Red Sorghum!
