erm... someone got framed? and they have to figure out who framed them?
a series of mysterious kilings sweep the world!

everything could malfunction, and since this is the future, i think, even the highest tech wouldn't save them, and they'll have to pull people back from underwater, out in space, and crowd them all onto the planet again, and on and on...

and since their tech is gone, they have to reach down to primitive stuff, like flint and steel, 'cuz they got rid of all the current stuff and replaced it with reeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaal high tech stuff.

How about all the world suddenly experiences a mass blackout, and it's a survival story as the main character(s) try to find the problem and fix it?
how about the main character(s) aren't heros/heroines, or at least not from the beginning? What if they were watching other people try to save the day, but then they did something on accident that helped, and now everybody trying to fix the problem is trying to recruit the person who accidentally made progress because they think the person is a supergenius or something?

Dunno...we need the basic thing that is happening before we can start. We need to agree...
we could start where like all the tech starts faltering and blanking/blacking out for a few seconds, a minute, a few minutes, ect. and then the engineer ppl like try and fix it but make it worse and the main character is like trying to get home to the botttom of the ocean or mars or whatever but...i better stop. i;m rambling
yah kinda like ember but it wont be under ground or anything. but that'd be cool- like the human race so ginormus that we had to dig under ground have different levels of urbia etc.
I love this idea, esp. the part about them not being heros, but maybe slowly becoming heros and more and more important in the gist of things. And we could start with there being utter darkness, and the main character being terribly afraid.
