A few months ago: Julia Blackburn's Old Man Goya http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...Just started A Worldly Art: The Dutch Republic by Mariet Westermann. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12... Haven't finished chapter one and I'm already sucked in. Lots of nice illustrations too.
Did you have a particular subject area in mind?
I'm reading the exhibition catalogue from the Playing With Pictures exhibit at the Met. I say get there before it closes, I think on the 9th. The ex-cat is nice but there's nothing like seeing the actual artwork.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/66.... I formed an opinion early on about this book. It's interesting to see the development of photography and social games being played at the time, but the near genocide of the Irish keeps me from really liking anything about this book.
I'm reading (and enjoying) Herschel B. Chipp's Theories of Modern Art.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/93...
Didn't know where to post this. Hope it is ok here. Thought members of this group might be interested in a series of quizzes I've been preparing occasionally:

Most recently I read The Art Of Rivalry. It’s about 4 pairs of artists and how they influenced each other and competed against each other.Mad Enchantment is a great read about Claude Monet.
The Art of Forgery was an eye opening and sympathetic read about several famous forgeries.
Lady in Gold is the book they based the movie on and worth reading for the extra detail and depth it gives to the story.
