Could it be Strange Fruit by lillian smith? I googled with the information you gave me and the description matches. I've heard about this book before. Sounds good :)
Guys, please help me for the book's name. I think I got misunderstandable answer from the helper above. As the matter of fact, the book tells relationship between a white lady named "Lilian" and a black cotton (I'm not quite sure, corn?) field worker, in the South USA, circa 1900s. Hope to hear from you all soon.

The story not only tells love between a white girl and a Colored farm worker, but also relationship of that white girl and her sister.
To add more detail: a white girl had slept with the Colored farm worker, which was very scandalous at that time; I've no idea by her true intention, or accidentally.
I had read this novel for more that 20 years. All I have been able to remember is the white girl's name: LILIAN.
What is the novel's name?
Thank you very much for your helps.
