On the subject of 2012 maybe something dramatic and sun-related, solar, will happen, but I don't think it'll cause an apocalypse. People have been predicting the end of the world for years, moving the date up and up and we're still here.
And that date will keep on going up...

I can't find it again however...i'll keep looking.
I think that the world will not end in 2012. You know how people say that it was when the Aztec calander stopped? Well I think that the Aztec's started going "extinct" and there was no one to write the calander anymore.
xD I think everyone just wants something to talk about and worry about than their own lives and what is going on in them. I know their was a show on TV, I think last year, and astronomers were saying that if we didn't blow some asteroid up, it'll crash into the earth and start the chain of blocking out the sun etc. The year was 2025.
I don't know if it's entirely true, but that'd what I remember.
They also say that a solar flair will destroy our magnetisphere and then astroids will pummle us.
Did it ever occur to anyone that maybe the Aztecs just got tired of writing out a thousand year calender? Maybe they figured out that they had better things to do in life than write a calender, or debate the date of the apocalypse.
