Caitlin Hey everyone! I'm looking for some good books to read, preferably fantasy with an interesting setting and set of characters.

I've recently read and enjoyed--

Flesh and Spirit & Breath and Bone- Carol Berg (AWESOME AWESOME BOOKS)
Heir to Sevenwaters - Juliet Marillier

In the less recent past I remember liking--
The Mageborn Traitor - Melanie Rawn (Even though the series is like to remain unfinished)
Mistborn: The Final Empire/The Well of Ascension/The Hero of Ages - Brandon Sanderson
Fool's Errand/Golden Fool/Fool's Fate - Robin Hobb

I've also been known to enjoy the more sci-fi side of things (e.g. Ender's Game/Ender's Shadow or The Left Hand of Darkness or The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit).

Any suggestions? :) Even if it doesn't seem to match my tastes, please go ahead and rec your favorite books.

azulluna Hey!
Since you seem to grown-up style fantasy, how about giving this a try:
The Stepsister Scheme

It's one of my favorites because it's imaginative, kind of dark, and kind of funny.

Jeff Watson You might also try The Curse of the Mistwraith.

Ron You might like Carol Berg's The Spirit Lens and The Soul Mirror.

Mick You might like Rachel Aaron's series. I've only read The Spirit Thief and The Spirit Rebellion so far, but I loved them. I love the characters and the magic use in this series.

Ruth You can also try Catherine Asaro's Saga of the Skolian Empire. It's almost a bajillion books and they are smart and good with romances happening. Strong storylines. I think the first one is "Primary Inversion".

Gerrie There are about 4 or 5 books in Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters series. They're all terrific, but I especially like the second one,
Son of the Shadows. Her Bridei trilogy is also wonderful: The Dark Mirror; Blade of Fortriu; and The Well of Shades. You might also like Sharon Shinn's wonderful Twelve Houses series. There are 5 books, and they're all very good. Shinn is a great story teller. I'm recommending these books as one who loves Carol Berg's writing.

If you've read Robin Hobb's Tawney man Trilogy. Then I recommend the trilogy before that. The Farseer Trilogy
Robin Hobb Collection: Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, Assassin's Quest,Royal Assassin, and Assassin's Quest

Janny Wurts writes the best series ever! And still going strong!
