~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) Should you shop from walmart? Why or why not? What are the dos and donts about shoppping about Walmart?

message 2: by Jess (new)

Jess (ju5t4n3rd) I do not shop at WalMart. I think that their policies are obscene, they don't give their employees health insurance, they tried to put GIRL SCOUTS out of buisness and by selling everything, they put stores like Target, Walgreens, and Jewel Osco out of buisness.
I do not like WalMart.

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) I did not know some of that info..And Walgreens is expensive!!!!!! The service at walmart takes forever, and they never have anything you want there when you want it so you have to come back, always changing place round, everytime I go there it re arranged. THERE TAKING OVER AMERICA!!!!

message 4: by Jess (new)

Jess (ju5t4n3rd) *nods*
They also pay their male employees more than their women employees. Most of their women employees are single mothers who need to support their families. That's pretty hard to do because one, Walmart doesn't pay well and two, they pay their women even LESS.

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) Here ppl say it's good pay... hmmm ok then....most there employeess are women too! Walmart sucks..

I read that the three top major things not to buy from WalMart are: furniture (I agree), books, and electronics (I agree).
I bought a bookcase from it 6 months ago and the shelves last week just blew off the cabinet... Our conclusion: I own too many books. That doesn't solve the problem, but at least it was a conclusion.
And I just simply refuse to buy electronics from WalMart, because I see it that if I just pay that extra 20 bucks, at least my camera will last another 5 years than the WalMart discounted. Plus you get all that cool tech support from Staples and Office Depot.
Then books, to which I now agree after realizing this, that WalMart only sells the mainstream authors: Dean Koontz, Stephen King, Stephanie Meyer, P.C. + Kim Cast, Sarah Pallin, etc. Then what about the bookstores that sell the non-mainstream? Well, obviously they go out of business. That is why our Walden's Borders shut down. Damn you WalMart... Damn you... *Points evil finger in the direction of the building*

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) GAH I WROTE A WHOLE PARAGRAPH AND GOODREADS...GAH!!!

And thoose three items are on the "Do not buy new list" Soooo yeah...

I think staples and office depot are kinda pricey adn have horrible service.. I prefer Best buy!!

And yes they have a short amount of books, but so does Target, and Walgreens and I imagine prolly Kmart

Well, I prefer to buy books from a used book store, like Bruised Book or TJ's Books & Treasures, only problem is that they originate in this town, and can't be found outside Moscow (Not sure if that is true... Must ask for reference.) Also its recommended to buy books from used bookstores as well, because the bookstores have a strict rule on the books condition and you will most likely ALWAYS find that the price is half its original. I look greatly into the Mercedes Lackey Obsidian Trilogy and I found at Bruised Books and entire wall to her books!! I was soooooo happy!! And I've bought so many of hers and Laurell K Hamilton, plus Rachel Vincent.

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) I normall get my books from the library..I'm not one to read books twice (like big chapter books)

message 20: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (bookishadventures) | 45 comments Mod
Ah, I own before I read. I have approximately two full bookcases right now, including my broken bookcase, three large boxes in the storage room full of books, and I'm looking to invest in a new book case and fixing my broken one. I want my books back from the back room! Stupid spiders! Stay away from my bookies! *cries*
~Sessy

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) I have like 20 I need to read I think...maybe more that I own.

My step mother complains that she created a book monster... XD I own more than she does and she's been collecting for 35 years!
~Sessy

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) hahah I very rarely buy books like I said...but that'll prolly change once I'm old enough to get a job.

message 24: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (bookishadventures) | 45 comments Mod
Ah, how old are you? I'm 17 and I've been working for about a year at a University and I usually buy my own things, my parents only help with the necessities.
~Sessy

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) I just turned 14 on the 9th of this month.

message 26: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (bookishadventures) | 45 comments Mod
Oh wow, yeah. You'll have a few years to go. Geez, at the age of 14 I probably didn't even have a small bookcase of books, or even a handful...
Well, heading out. Chat with you later!
~Sessy

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) haha I shall take that as a complement lolZ and bye

message 28: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (bookishadventures) | 45 comments Mod
You should take that as a compliment! What books do you like most?
~Sessy

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) Well I loved the shadow of den quartet. But I just read blue bloods and I love it and I'm reading the summoning.

message 30: by Jordyn (new)

Jordyn (bookishadventures) | 45 comments Mod
Oh, yes! I own the entire series of Blue Bloods and I've found very few of my friends who liked it or are willing the try to read it. I find that it's better than the House Of Night series in the thought that it doesn't have all the great drama of high school, and I also like the historical aspect of it!
Maybe that is something I shouldn't admit...
~Sessy

~ ! ♥ I rp therefore I am Awesome ♥ ! ~ (jessicatheawsomeone) I finished the summoning along with the awakening.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I love those books. I read all three in about three days :D

message 40: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (hirumayoichis) Wal-mart is... Wal-mart. 'Nuff said. One of the few reasons I like going there is to look at the people. :D

message 41: by Sarah (new)

Sarah yeah, people watching is sorta fun, sometime I'll be in a tall building, or on a bench, it's something I do if I'm REALLY bored...

People watching... WOW. What I want to do when I reach my 60s is get a winged back chair, own a white pursian house cat, and sit on my front porch just watching people go by with a stink in my eyes, lip jutted out and whispering to myself:

"YEE~S, Mr. Sprinkles! We will rule to world..."

O.o... Heheheheh... THAT WOULD BE SOOOOOO AWESOME!!! *dies from laughter*

Shopping at WalMart isn't entirely bad. I don't completely disagree with it in the such manner that, yes, the prices are grant, especially if you have a tight budget for something that desperately needs to get done. But it is recommended, as I believe I said before, that you should heavily stay away from the appliances/electronics (TVs, camcorders, etc.), furnishings (bookcases, futons, TV stands, etc.), and the books as major things, and that's more because of the quality over quantity. Because it costs more, they are less likely to tend to the ware and tears of the machines that you purchase from WalMart and there are no tech services offered to you with your purchase, like at Staples or Office Depot, and that you have high restrictions with the return policies.
