I am about 7 or 8 chapters in and i am having a bit of a slow time getting into this book. Maybe it is just because I am having a bit of baby-induced sleep deprivation. ;)
i'm going to have to decline this meeting...holocaust fiction isn't really for me. after sarah's key, i was done. :( plus, i've heard a number of reviews that say its a hard one to get into.
I really want to like this book because two of my grandparents immigrated from Poland to the US between the two world wars and I have a great appreciation for what Poland went through during WWII.Having said that, I'm on Chapter 7 and I feel as if it could have been distilled down to two chapters. I'll keep reading and see how far I get before Sunday.
You can both feel free to come even if you haven't read the book. I am now on Chapter 25 and still not loving it. It is a kind of blend of fiction and non-fiction and is just an odd read to me...it is almost too flowery in parts.
I see I'm not alone having difficulty with this. I agree Jessica - the blend of fiction and nonfiction is making it more challenging than I thougth it would be.See you tomorrow.
I wasn't able to come but got the book from the library and had every intention of reading it anyway. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who is struggling. I don't know that I'm going to bother plugging away since it doesn't seem to get much better.
