Our May book is The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman. You can join us in person to discuss this weekend or discuss here online if you can't make it to the meeting.

I am about 7 or 8 chapters in and i am having a bit of a slow time getting into this book. Maybe it is just because I am having a bit of baby-induced sleep deprivation. ;)

i'm going to have to decline this meeting...holocaust fiction isn't really for me. after sarah's key, i was done. :( plus, i've heard a number of reviews that say its a hard one to get into.

Nancy (nancy_m) | 39 comments I really want to like this book because two of my grandparents immigrated from Poland to the US between the two world wars and I have a great appreciation for what Poland went through during WWII.

Having said that, I'm on Chapter 7 and I feel as if it could have been distilled down to two chapters. I'll keep reading and see how far I get before Sunday.

You can both feel free to come even if you haven't read the book. I am now on Chapter 25 and still not loving it. It is a kind of blend of fiction and non-fiction and is just an odd read to me...it is almost too flowery in parts.

Lynn | 131 comments I see I'm not alone having difficulty with this. I agree Jessica - the blend of fiction and nonfiction is making it more challenging than I thougth it would be.

See you tomorrow.

I wasn't able to come but got the book from the library and had every intention of reading it anyway. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who is struggling. I don't know that I'm going to bother plugging away since it doesn't seem to get much better.
