J-M-U Love to Read discussion

I'm trying to remember the name of a book I read in 2004. Here's what I remember:
The protagonist was a young boy.
He hangs out with his mom's psychiatrist a lot.
The psychiatrist is very odd - does things like getting God's intentions from looking at the family's poop.
Several characters try to prophesy by opening the Bible and pointing to a random verse, then trying to interpret what God is telling them to do about their situation.
The boy has a love-affair with the psychiatrist's teenage son.

It was a great book and I'd love to recommend it as a fun (and very odd) read, but I can't remember the name.

So, I found it about two minutes after I posted this comment. I was checking out "I am Madame X" which I read around the same time, but is COMPLETELY different in genre and I recognized this book as one of the ones on the "people often go to this book after viewing this book" section. WEIRD.

It's called Running with Scissors. I did a review on my "read" bookshelf.

Very weird... all of it- the book, the fact that the 2 were linked, and the spelling of the word "weird"
