Rex I was re-reading Gone and I started wondering "What exactly IS the deal with Sam and Caine being brothers?" I mean, this issue had been pushed to the background in light of newer events but I'm bringing it back up.

WHY did Connie only keep Sam? Was it because Sam's dad and her divorced and each took one kid, and then...Idk, the dad died and Caine ended up being adopted? And WHO is Sam's father? What is the deal, man?

Theories?

Mike | 509 comments i think i remmeber reading that when their parents split up, Connie put Caine up for adoption because she couldnt take care of 2 kids.. then she got a job at Coates so she could keep an eye on Caine..hope that helps :)

Grace | 637 comments I think she knew something, that's why she chose sam. She somehow knew sort of how caine was going to turn out.

message 4: by Mike (new)

Mike | 509 comments ya i agree... she definatley kept an eye on Caine though because she took the job and wrote that journal about him on her laptop

Yeah

message 6: by Yiling (new)

Yiling (fillthesky) | 1487 comments Maybe she had a power of knowing the future. * probably not... but just wondering....*

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Idk lol

message 8: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments That's kind of sweet that she made that much of an effort to keep an eye on Caine. Even though she could have, you know, just not given him up in the first place...

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

I think so. I also believe Connie didn't WANT to give up her other son, but maybe she had no choice?

message 10: by Mike (new)

Mike | 509 comments she had no choice because she couldnt support 2 kids

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, so that doesn't mean she doesn't love Caine any less

message 12: by Mike (new)

Mike | 509 comments ya i know, she didi it for caines own good, plus she made sure caine had a good life because she took the job at Coates school so she could watch him

message 13: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments I still think she should have tried to keep him more under control. Just watching your son turn into a sociopath dictator isn't going to do much.

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah. But Caine was sent to Coates for a reason and he didn't do much listening to her anyways from her blog entries or whatever

message 15: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments Did she try to talk to him a lot? I kind of want to know a little of Caine's perspective explaining his past and his experiences with her. That would be interesting. Diana's past would be neat, too. I don't know if I buy the story she told Computer Jack about how she ended up at Coates. I think that she wouldn't be so messed up just because she was a spoiled brat. And Drake, too. I know we know a little more about his past, but it would still be interesting. Kids this young that have that many problem had to have some parental problems when they were younger. It's just not natural.

probably... or maybe they were dropped on their head.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe... ;)

message 18: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments HAHA! Yes, all three.

Peroxide Blond (twits500) | 671 comments Your all saying that she took a job at Coates to watch him, but there is a problem. If he was adopted how would she know if he was at Coates, it seems it was just coincedance that she got a job where he was sent to school.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, but maybe she was looking for him, and ended up tracking him down and that's where she found him.

message 21: by Selena (new)

Selena (masterjedilena) Maybe she stalked him? Lol idk, but there is a lot more to the story, I just know

message 22: by Rob (new)

Rob (goodreadscomchaoticcookie37) | 339 comments She could have adopted him out to a friend in like an arranged adoption. I agree that there will be a lot more to this as the story unfolds.

message 23: by Rex (new)

Rex And now you see why I'm like "WTF? I wanna KNOOOOOOW!" This has casually hung in the background for three books and we're still no close to figuring it out...And what happened to that little box Caine stole? The one that belonged to Sam's mom, the one with their father's name in it? I can't remember....And the laptop! What about that? Couldn't Computer Jack just override the password protection? It should be easy for him....What is Caine doing with them? UGHH! One answer just turns over more uqestions.....We probably won't even find out till the last book.

Peroxide Blond (twits500) | 671 comments Ikr i HATE uqestions! Its like a question but worse! ;]
nah, just kidding, but yeah it does kinda bug me... tell us soon grant PLEEAAASSE!

Yiling (fillthesky) | 1487 comments Can't wait for the rest of the books!!!

message 26: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments I want to find out if M.G.'s going to explain a little more about Caine, because I am beyond curious.

message 27: by Yiling (new)

Yiling (fillthesky) | 1487 comments me too! He doesn't really talk about his history.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I know! Caine is twisted now as he is...but now I wanna know more about his past:)

message 29: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments Something must have gone wrong due to how he turned out...

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah o_O

message 31: by Yiling (new)

Yiling (fillthesky) | 1487 comments I was about to say, well maybe Mrs. Temple was drinking when she was pegenant, but then Sam would have turned up bad soo... *Never Mind*

message 32: by Rob (new)

Rob (goodreadscomchaoticcookie37) | 339 comments Being adopted out and raised by different people probably affected him a lot. I cant remember if they talk about his adoptive parents too much though.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Meph. We have to wait until next April]:

message 34: by Yiling (new)

Yiling (fillthesky) | 1487 comments i know!!!! *sob* XD

message 35: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments Maybe he had abusive parents? Idk, though. It seems to be the case for Drake and maybe even Diana. As I said somewhere before, I don't really buy the story she told Computer Jack.

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

I wouldn't, ha.

I think that is why. I mean, WHY would she make up a story?

message 38: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Rayne | 460 comments We agree on a lot, don't we addicted2life? :)

message 39: by Yiling (new)
