Lily and Kevin were starting their first day at their new school. Lily walked in boldly, while Kevin followed more slowly, hovering behind Lily.

Saffy walked in behind the other two people, sending her luggage to her room and having the air unpack her things for her.

((mind if lily's in the same room as Saffy?))

Lily went to her room, where her roommates things were being unpacked on their own. She rolled her eyes and summoned 2 skeletons to do it for her. Kevin snorted and sat on Lily's bed, waiting for her to be done.

((no, I like her having a roomate.))

Saffy walked into the room. "Hi, my name is Sappheire, but everyone calls me Saffy. What's your name?"

ryan walks down the hall

"Lilith, everyone calls me Lily though" she said coldly before turning away to direct her skeletons in the exact way her clothes should be folded.

Kevin rolled his eyes at his sister again and held his hand out to Saffy. "Im Kevin, Lily's twin brother...Nice to meet you Saffy"

Saffy smiled at him, glad someone was a nice person. "Hello. It's nice to meet you too. So, what is your power?" she asked, shaking his hand.

ryan walks in to a class room

Lily finsihed and turned toward them. "Kevin. Im leaving. Hurry up and meet me downstairs" she said firmly, ignoring Saffy before leaving the room.

Kevin sighed and stood up. "I should probably go..." he said softly, ignoring her question abouot his power. "I'll see ya around kay?"

"I guess. Everyone has the same classes, don't they? Right now I have math. So boring, but it is usefull to know." She went over to the door and held it open for Kevin.

Kevin smiled and nodded. "Hey, me and Lil have math too...Wanna walk with me?" he asked as he went out into the hall and waited.

"Alright. So, you never told me your power. I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." she said as she walked beside him to math class.

Kevin smiled and shook his head. "You first" he said, grinning. He didnt want to tell her; his power (or lack thereof as he liked to think) embarressed him, and he would rather people didnt know.

"I have telepathy, control over the elements, and... well... I have wings." she finished, a bit embarrassed about the last part. She loved to have wings when she was flying, but when she was around other people... she just felt like what her father called her when he thought no one was listening. A freak of nature.

"Really? Thats so cool!" Kevin said with a smile. "Can I maybe see them sometime? Man, it must be sweet, having wings..."

" well i can controll fire and turn my self on fire " he said looking into her eyes

"Its really fun to fly, yes, but it is hard to hear what some people say about them. You can see them though." she said, and made her backpack dissapear. She spread her draconian wings, and light shone through the membrane, making strange patterns in the air. The silvery veins that ran throughout the wings shimmered, and images could be seen on them. She spread them out to full length, which was over 14 feet wide.

Kevin gasped slightly, awed by the wings. "Whoa...That's so cool..." he murmured, staring at them. "What do you mean, its hard to hear what people say? What do people say?" he asked, glad the conversation had been steered away from his powers.

" o thats cool "

"Well... my father thinks of me as a 'freak of nature'. He said so when they started to grow." She pulled her wings back in and the backpack rematerialized.

"Oh....Im sorry" he said softly. "Its not true though....Your wings are amazing" he said, with a sweet smile. He was aout to take her hand when a call rang out to them form down the hall. "Kevin!" Lily called sharply. "Hurry up, your making me late!" KEvin sighed and nodded. "Come on, we better hurry up" he said softly to Saffy before walking away toward his sister.

claass went on then the bell rang

She walked after him, trying to stop thinking of that memory, but it was no use. She had been in her bedroom, close to the door. 'Wings? We can't have a daughter with wings!' her father had nearly shouted. 'Shhh! Not so loud! We have what we have, and their's no wat to change it.' her mother had told him, quieter but still audible.
'But we won't be able to show our faces in public, not with a mutant for a daughter!'
'She's not a mutant. You know that.'
'Then she's a freak, a freak of nature. No human has ever grown wingsbefore. We'll have to-' the conversation broke off.

She had never forgotten that conversation. Her parents didn't know she had heard, but she had. She walked into the math classroom; class was just about to start. She took her seat and placed her books on her desk, trying to forget that memory. But it was useless. It always was.

ryan walked out

Kevin sighed and sat down next to her. Lily sat on his other side, her hand resting lightly on Kevin's arm. Kevin slumped in his seat, glumly looking between Saffy, Lily and the teacher.

Saffy closed her eyes fir a second, and when she opened them she wore a slight smile. It was all well and good to feel sorry for yourself, but it was always best to give the appearence of happiness. Except at funerals, but those were different. She opened her textbook to the page the teacher had written on the board. It was only about graphing algabraic equations, nothing too hard.

Lily and Kevin also opened their books, and Lily looked bored when she saw what they were doing. She sighed and played with her pencil while the teacher explained something so simple to the rest of the class. KEvin rolled his eyes at his sister, he hated how things always came so easily to her. He shrugged and struggled through the problem the teacher had set them.

Saffy easily did the problem the teacher had told them to do, which was to solve the equations y= x-3 and 2x-y=3 by using substitution. "Need help?" she asked when she saw Kevin having difficulty with the problem,

((god, Kevin must be an idiot, thats such an easy problem! just looking at it i can figure it out! lol))

"Hmm? Oh, yeah I guess..." he said softly, blushing slightly when he realized how quickly everyone else understood it.

((sorry, just taking problems out of my math textbook. I'm in the seventh grade honers math class, and beleive it or not one of the people in my class would have trouble with that.))
"Here, first you substitute the y in the second equation with x-3. So now the equation is 2x-x-3=3. then you solve the equation, so it's x-3=3, so x has to equal 6. Then you substitute 6 for x in the first equation, so you have y=6-3. Simplified, that is y=3. Then you put it in an ordered pair, so your answer is (6,3)."

((haha, Im in 10th grade algebra 2 and most of my class would have trouble with that too, hehe))

Kevin nodded as she explained it. "Oh" he said when she was done and realized how obvious it was. "Thanks" he added, feeling like a total idiot.

((theres one girl in my class, I had to teach her ordered pairs! she didnt know how to plot a point!))

((really? I learned how to do thatin like, kindergarden! Ok, maybe not kindergarden, but a while back.))
"It's ok, substitution is a somewhat strange concept. I've learned about it before, so I understand it." she said, picking up on some of his thoughts.

((yeah, i know! like second grade! and she's at least a tenth grader!))

"Thanks" he repeated, nodding again as he moved onto the next problem. Lily saw Saffy helping him and rolled her eyes. "God Kevin, are you really that stupid? How do you not understand this?"

"Lily, go be a git somewhere else." Saffy said. She knew she was being a bit meen, but Lily realy was a jerk.

"Its ok Saffy, she's right" Kevin said softly, while Lily sneered at Saffy before turning her attention back to her book.

"Just because she's right doesn't meen she's not being a git."

Kevin couldnt help but laugh, which earned him a dirty look from Lily. He sobered up after that, though he continued to smile at Saffy.

Saffy smiled back, then went back to work on her problems.

Kevin went back to his work, a look of frustration on his face every once in a while, though Saffy had helped a lot. Every few minutes Lily would touch him, her hand on his shoulder, arm back, or leg, for a few seconds before going back to work.

Saffy easily finished her problems, then took out a copy of Harry Potter and thr Chamber of Secrets to read.

Kevin looked around. Almost the entire class was already done, the slacker kids who hadnt even started were the only ones not done besides him. He sighed and closed his book, hoping no one noticed he hadnt actually finished.

((yeah, I know, but to an outsider it would seem creepy.))
Saffy shut the book, chuckling. "Lockhart is such an idiot."

Kevin raised his eyebrow and smirked at her, before he realized what she was reading. "Your right...I love when they run into him in the fifth book though" he said softly, smiling.

"That is rather funny. You have read all seven books?"
