Obviously there's Richard & Amy as a favorite couple. I couldn't put down the first book, largely due to the storyline, but without the couple having that chemistry and the characters being so interesting it wouldn't have been nearly as good.I really liked Geoff and Letty as well followed by Henrietta & Miles. I originally liked Eloise & Colin but there story has gotten somewhat dull and now I just want to get past the chapters with the "present" storyline and back to the historical.
Hi! I'm the newbie in this group, so I'm just jumping in here with my two cents. My favorite couple is Miles and Henrietta. I really enjoyed Richard and Amy's story, but I kept thinking "I wonder if Miles has feelings for Richard's sister...?" and how great that would be. I just thought there humor was so witty and it was so romantic that they had known one another their whole lives. I'm a sap for that kind of thing. I also like Eloise and Colin because he is so quiet and refined and she is so bookish and spastic, but I wish their storyline would develop a little faster.
I know what you all mean about Eloise/Colin. Because their storyline is only scattered throughout each book and the bulk of each novel is the historical section, we have to wait longer for what feels like plot progression for them. But I still love their sections!I do like Miles/Henrietta a lot--that "known each other all their lives" thing gets me too, April--but I think Richard being the oppressive older brother was a little off-putting to me. I understand he would be angry at first but he seems to hold onto it way too long.
Now that I'm reading Night Jasmine, Charlotte and Robert are climbing the list! :)
I completely agree, I thought Richard's reaction was a little intense. After all, he has trusted Miles with his friendship and his safety for most of his life, so it seemed odd that he would be so blinded with anger that he would not be able to see things more clearly. What I really can't wait to read is Jane's story. I can't remember his name off the top of my head, but I remember a character who wrote terrible poetry as a cover-up helping Jane a time or two. That could be a possible future relationship......maybe?
I think that Lauren Willig has done a great job at presenting very different kinds of characters in each book. While I have enjoyed most of the couples in the Pink Carnation series, my favorite couples are:Mary & Lord Vaughn
Penelope & Alex
I like these couples because of the way the author has revealed aspects of their personalities as the series has progressed. When I first met each character, with the exception of Alex, I had a slightly negative impression of them. For example, Mary seemed proud and haughty in Emerald Ring until I learned that behind her perfect mask lurked a horror of depending upon the charity of her family. Penelope's constant flaunting of societal norms and her prickly nature were driven by feelings of inferiority, rejecting people before they could reject her.
As for Lord Vaughn, he's not a conventional hero, was a little bit older than the other characters, and could dish the witty dialogue with the best of them. Alex's staunch ethics in the face of pervasive corruption in colonial India endeared him to me. As Penelope noted, he also had a good seat! (I'm nearly as fond of double entendres as...Lord Vaughn.)
Besides the historical couples, I also really enjoy Eloise and Colin. It's fun to contrast the relatively slow development of their relationship with the whirlwind romances that Eloise uncovers in the archives.

I absolutely adore Lord Vaugn! He and Mary are probably my favorite! They are cunning, gutsy and witty.
My favorite couple has to be Miles and Henrietta, simply because Miles is just so goofy and loveable, yet able to hold a commanding presence in his scenes in the novel. I also love the sharp tongues of Mary and Lord Vaughn, although I wasn't really fond of them personally.
Richard and Amy and Penelope and Alex tie for 2nd place. I love Richard and Amy because they are the originals, the trendsetters for this series that I love oh so much. Penelope and Alex are irresistable for the balance they create in each other (hope that's not giving away too much).
Mary/Vaughn.Willig really put them through the ringer in the book (like no other couple before or after). To date, they are the only characters who have been shot at (well, Vaughn was...Mary had the un-Mary-like task of cleaning him up and saving his life) and blown up.
Nothing like an explosion to profess their undying love for each other. Yes, Mary all beautiful with blood down the side of her face from a piece of shrapnel and Vaughn with a reopened bullet wound through his side chest. Both their faces blackened with ashes. Yet, still sarcastic as ever.
That has got to be one of my favorite "love declaration" scenes in any book:)
My 2 favorite seconds are Letty/Geoff and Arabella/Turnip
I liked Miles and Henrietta quite a bit. I also enjoy Mary and Lord Vaughan - quite suitable for each other and that book makes them very sympathetic. I liked Penelope & Alex, as well as Laura & Andre - but I don't think we'll hear much more from them.
New favorite is Turnip and Arabella though. I'm really looking forward to seeing how/if they turn up in future novels.
Mary & Vaughn. Too delightfully twisted to NOT like. :)Also, having just read Mischief of the Mistletoe TODAY... Turnip & Arabella!!! They're so adorable. And their banter reminds me of my favorite literary couples.
I have to admit, so far I'm a big fan of Charlotte and Robert, because Charlotte reminds me so much of my childhood (I always had a book in hand, and I spent all my time in a fantasyland). Watching the two of them grow into each other (each maturing in their own way) was wonderful. And the way Charlotte defied even herself when sticking to her guns... I used to wish I had that ability with my ex!That pair is tied with Penelope and Alex (I just love Pen and her prickliness, who doesn't have a bit of a facade with the rest of the world?... and I love that Alex sees right through it. It helps that I've had a bit of a crush on Alex since the moment we met him in Blood Lily, haha!) and Laura and Andre (it was fun to see a couple who's "been there, done that," for all I haven't done that myself).
I'll admit, though... I can't wait to see what this Emma girl has in store for Augustus Whittlesby! She seems like a girl with gumption, and I adore a good heroine with gumption.
I have just finished the first book and a couple chapters in of the 2nd. I really hope to read more about Richard & Amy's life together! I love them!
I would have to say my favorite so far and I'm on Temptation of the Night Jasmine... Im reading them in Lauren Willig's time line suggested order, but my favorite is Arabella and Turnip in Mischief of the Mistletoe. Though Turnip, in all the previous books, is made to look like and idiot, there is something sweet and exciting about "watching" the two of them flirt. Plus you get to see Turnips full character and find out how sweet and caring he is. But yes I love all the couples don't get me wrong but there's something in their innocence that makes me fall in love with their story.

Which "Pink Carnation" series couple is your favorite?
I have only read the first three so far (I WILL read the rest as soon as possible) so PLEASE don't spoil too much about the ones after that, but which do you like best?
I have to say that aside from Eloise/Colin in the modern sections of the books, I love best...
Richard/Amy
Geoff/Letty
I love the first couple because they introduce the whole world of the books to the reader and have great chemistry together, and the second couple because I feel like their plot lets them really earn their love.
What about you guys?
