I just wanted to let all of you mystery readers/cookie hounds that I will be having a cookie recipe of mine appear in the next installment of the Hope Street Church books by Jennifer Stanley (she also writes under J.B. Stanley). This will be book 3, and it comes out in August of this year. It is called "The way of the guilty" and I for one, and very excited. The recipe is called "Comfort Cookies", which are an oatmeal cookie with golden raisins and dried cherries. For those of you who are too impatient to wait for the book, you can go to my group "Cookies" right here on goodreads and find that and other recipes of mine and those of other members.

I can't find this recipe, Kim. I looked under Recipes: Cookies. Is it under a different thread, maybe? Does it have a different name?
Congratulations Kim! How fun that one of your recipes will be a part of the book and what a great name for them!

My daughter tends to blow things up in the kitchen, too, Fiona. :)

I love oaty cookies (or..."You won't believe what I managed to do yesterday evening. I made a sweet fruit casserole and when I put the hot casserole dish on the kitchen countertop to cool, I managed to crack the countertop (I guess I should have had something underneath the casserole dish, but I'd never had a problem with this before).
What kind of counter top?My mom broke a glass Pyrex dish once. I had just made brownies and they were cooling on the counter, and my mom was drying dishes. She put the Pyrex on the stove top and the dish shattered! Glass every where, brownies ruined, and my mom going "But it's PYREX!" over and over again. I could only figure that it had a weak spot and that having just been washed, the two extreme temperature changes made it snap.
Oh wow, Gundula! My husband would have killed me!! I have never heard of a countertop cracking like that. What kind of material is it made of? I am assuming that you are okay?

Brownies ruined! That's the worst part. :(

It was funny, though, I was reading at the kitchen table, waiting for the fruit dessert to cool, when suddenly, there was a huge cracking sound. I thought it came from outside and went and checked (I thought maybe the ATVers were being idiots, sorry, no offense, but they've been incredibly loud ever since it got warm here); I only realised later that I now have a crack in my countertop (to go with the crack on the stove which happened when something fell out off the cupboard and onto the range). Oh well, I'll have to keep an eye on it, I guess I'll have to replace it if it starts chipping. As you can see, while I might like to cook, I am dangerous in the kitchen.

Wow, that's worse than what happened to me, nothing worse than shards of glass everywhere, they are so hard to clean up, and a bloody nuisance if you accidentally step on them.
Well, I'm glad you aren't injured (or cracked!). :)
Jeannette wrote: "Well, I'm glad you aren't injured (or cracked!). :)"Well, I am "crackers" but I don't mind that.

That's okay. Hayes and I have admitted to being kooky, so you can be crackers! :)
