One Nomination per person (2 if you really can't decide).

The book you nominate has to have a cover that intrigues you, or is beautiful, or just draws you to read the book. Basically a book you would read just because of its cover!

Nominations will be open until the 10th of June.

Ok so here goes...

Street Haunting (Pocket Penguin 70's #44) by Virginia Woolf by Virginia Woolf (I like the cover and the story sounds cool!)

The Dressmaker's Child (Pocket Penguin 70's #22) by William Trevor by William Trevor

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Both books are beautifull to me... I just love the way it looks like drawings

message 4: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Ah, so that's the one you were talking about! It is a very pretty cover :)
Plus, it's very short, and given that you need to take things slowly with Woolf, it's a good choice if you want to sample her writing.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

I've always wanted to read something of hers, and when I noticed the cover yesterday (Searching on google hehe) I went to see what its all about, and I must say, the story did make me want to read it!!!
I got some others, but those two I liked the best

message 6: by Heather (last edited Jun 02, 2010 02:20AM) (new)

message 9: by Heather (new)

Heather Tribe (tribefox) Thanks! They both caught my eye immediately. And fortunately, the stories inside sound intriguing as well!

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden

Or 2. After Dark by Haruki Murakami

After Dark by Haruki Murakami

I also think that Twilight is a very good cover, but I cant have 3 nominations. :-)

message 14: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Murakami's one of those authors I want to read but never actually get around to reading :)

I actually like the Twilight cover too. It was the only thing I liked about the book...

message 15: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I couldn't find a copy of the book I wanted to nominate, so instead I nominate Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer

I actually did read this book because of the cover, but it also became one of my favourites, and I'd like to re-read it.

Emma, I've read Memoirs of a Geisha and found it to be the most eloquent and heartwrenching/warming reads of my life. I highly recommend it!

Hi Heather, I remember reading this years ago, I was in the UK at the time and used to spend buying books on Amazon. Memoirs of a Geisha was one of the books I bought. I loved if from the moment I picked it up to the time I had to put it down again, so reading it again after so long will not be a chore but an absolute pleasure.

What I am enjoying in this bookclub now, is that there is alot more variety in book selections, and we all seem to come up with good recommendations every month.

:Lu & Niecole we are all enablers in this book club lol I cannot for the life of me keep up with the books that I want to read.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I have so many books I want to read...
Currently I have Memoirs of a Geisha on my shelf, but unfortunatly its not the one with that beautiful cover, but I'm looking forward to reading it.:)
Then I've got Women in White which I'm currently reading and a new James Patterson that I want to start. Also have Agatha Christies Murder on the orient express and then of course Girl with the Dragon tattoo...

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

There are some really good covers here guys! Its going to be very hard to choose

message 34: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments All the new books that I have downloaded I have not had time to read yet, my TBR list is getting longer by the day. I did finish Wizard of Earthsea today so that makes room for another book. My husband is still hocking my netbook for studying on so I am lost without it. Luckily for me he will be finished next Friday then Its all mine again :-) Hopefully I can get reading the books I have wanted to read for ages, saying that I have enjoyed my trips to the library.

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

How was Wizard of Earthsea?
I've been meening to read it, but couldnt get past the first few pages

message 36: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Unfortunately the first few chapters are the most exciting part of the book, IMO. If you check out the Spoiler thread for the book, and my 2010 reads thread you can get our reviews Niecole. Both of us found it disappointing I'm afraid.

So many people have loved it though, so maybe we're missing something, or other fantasy readers will like it more.

message 37: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hmm, was looking at the book I nominated last night - the cover's not really that attractive. On the other hand it caught my attention every single time I saw it on the shelves when I tidied them up or packed away books at EB, and I usually picked it up. Eventually the cover sort of forced me to read the book - which turned out to be a very good thing.

message 38: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
And thats what its about Lauren, reading a book because of its cover :)

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Lauren, I'll check it out :)
