Mairead | 34 comments The movie was far better, and easier to take in. I liked the book, but I loved the film. The unicorns death actually made me gag.

Amanda Caswell (book_pusher) | 3 comments I have to agree that the film was better. The book was great in its ability to make it seem like a newly-discovered fairy tale. There seemed to be very little depth or dialogue and the end would never have made it for mainstream movie audiences. The film was great because it passed quickly over the boring parts and expanded the action to make it a more moving and engaging film. My favorite expansion? The ship captain, of course!

Jess (jess_readsromance) I wasn't a fan of the book, I couldn't seem to take it in. The movie was much better I really liked it. Robert de Niro was fantastic in the movie.
