I like the Anna Pidgeon series. I'll have to dig 'Ill Wind' out of where ever it is hiding and reread it. It's been many years since I've read the first book.
I just finished Ill Wind and really enjoyed it. Wonderful setting. Two years ago I had a terrific vacation in the Santa Fe, NM area which is south of the Mesa Verde area but similar in landscape and this brought back many happy memories. I could picture the cliff dwellings I saw at Bandelier National Monument and the park service buildings that were part of the park.
Having never been west of the Mississippi and living mostly in urban areas on the east coast this was an eye opening experience. The vast distances you could see from the top of Sandia Peak in Albuquerque were amazing. I was not bothered too much by the altitude but the dryness was a surprise - lots of hand cream and water non stop.

Hi Anne, Thanks for the recommendation. I just added this to my TBR list. I do enjoy seeing another side to a good author. I will certainly be looking for more books in the Anna Pidgeon series too.

From Les’s nomination, “This was my first Nevada Barr book, and I've been hooked ever since. It's set in Mesa Verde National Park, one of my favorite parks. While I haven't been to Mesa Verde recently, I have been there several times, and enjoyed each of my visits.”
