Very Funny Horror film or Most Frightening Comedy? Either way, one of my all time favorites and an amazingly inventive film.

As December 12th comes closer, we have been seeing a lot more movie clips and this is where you can post them for others to view. They can be from the movie, or just interviews with the cast and crew.

George, I'll watch this again asap so as to comment on it in detail; I'm looking forward to revisiting an old classic!
From memory, Jeff Coombs OTT performance, slapstick schlock horror FX and a great script are what I liked most at the time.

Here's the most recent one that I have found. I am in love with it! Exactly how I pictured this amazing scene!

I was introduced to Reanimator in college (as well as It Came From Beyond, which I prefer) - me and my pals watched it multiple times, fully enjoying the absolute weirdness! What a contrast to all the slasher films of that period - Freddy, Friday the 13th, Halloween (the college cafeteria every Halloween would set up TV's and play videos [yes, videos] of these films - you could look around the giant round hall and pretty much see a screaming teenager on any given screen. Not necessarily a bad thing, but still. Maybe Evil Dead might get thrown in there once in a while). But yes, Barbara, the future soap opera queen holding back the head, while her father the zombie shambles in the background...Priceless. I just always loved the weirdness of this and "Beyond" - scary, horrible things happen, but the characters seem to have a kind of nonchalance about it all, like undead cats are just one more step on the way to science...I worship American Beauty and I never caught that reference - I'll have to watch more closely next time -
Oh right, I know the scene you mean in "Beauty." Cool.Hey, I know this is changing the subject a bit, but has anyone seen From Beyond - and really liked it? It's got bondage outfits, wormlike things sprouting from people's brains, and piranha-like creatures from another dimension! Plus virtually the same cast! Anyone want to compare/contrast? (you guys are so scholarly)..
Got through this one today. It was like a twisted Weird Science. That "reanimated" cat reminded me of Pet Sematary. Loved Dan Cain...Cain meaning "produced" of Hebrew origin. To produce = to provide, furnish, or supply...and Dan did all that for Herbert West. In addition, the address was humorous- 666 Darkmore- sounds like a great place for some evil to commence. At any rate, I enjoyed it on a comedic level. The gore was terrific, I am especially drawn to the seen where Herbert uses the shovel to remove Dr. Hill's head and the giving "head" scene was classic, yet disturbing from a female point of view. In any case, an odd film. I was only able to find one little mistake during the love scene at the beginning, the camera angle from one side of the bed shows skin on skin and then it snaps over to the other side of the bed, same scene, but now a sheet is between the two.
Sorry, I was going to rewatch this over the weekend as I own it, but it seems the last person to borrow it, returned the case, but not the movie itself. arggghhh! But I'll take this hands down over 90% of anything done since. Dan's the man in this. it simply wouldn't have worked without him.
Just some trivia for anyone who's interested - I happened to catch "Edmond" last night on cable - I missed the first 10 minutes so didn't realize this was directed by Stuart Gordon. Very strange because it's from a David Mamet play (or at least strange to me). William H. Macy stars as a buttoned-up business guy wandering seamy New York neighborhoods and slowly becoming unravelled - definitely has a weird edge. Not horror, but Macy skates the edge of insanity a few times. Jeffrey Combs has a cameo (as do many other Hollywood types). Plus, scanning IMDB, I just found out Gordon is the director of the new movie Stuck, which is based on the true story of the chick who ran into a guy and got him stuck into her windshield, then drove home and left him in her garage. So Gordon's definitely made some interesting artistic choices lately... (anyone seen Stuck? to go way off topic)
The story line from Stuck sounds like the same story line used in a CSI episode. Same thing...lady hits a guy, he gets stuck in the windshield, he's not dead...yet, she drives home and parks in the garage. Makes a great story I guess, especially if a whole movie can be made out of it!
right - apparently this has Mena Suvari and the main guy from The Crying Game (I'm blanking on his name) - I get the feeling that he gets out of the windshield and might be feeling a bit testy...
Yes, Rob, you are right. The man was apparently alive for 2 days and then the lady and some of her friends dumped his body. Ahhh, Stephen Rea. That should be an interesting film. Looks like maybe it finished production in 2007? I have saved it in my Q on Netflix, but it does not have a known release date.
well, it's basically out - there's some user comments on IMBD, and it's been shown at a couple of film fests, apparently (won a couple of awards). Probably only playing at LA, SF and NY, though - ? Hard to tell. But, someday it will be on DVD...
George,
I STILL haven't been able to find a copy of 'Re animator'! I think I'll have to order it online at this stage, which as a horror fan I should have done a long time ago anyway, but, sorry for the delay in contributing to the thread.

No problem. as noted earlier, I was going to fire up my personal copy only to find out it had strangely disappeared right out of the box. I certainly became very re-animated at that moment.
