You know, I just realized something: George's way of courting Alanna mirrors the way my husband had to court me! I was so (erroneously) certain that I would not date for ages, and never my friend... and then he employed a similar sort of "stalking" technique, worming his way into my heart, drat him! :-) I'm rather pleased that I was wrong.
I don't know much about horses and burrs, but wouldn't the horse have been in pain and acting upset even before Garth tried to mount? Anyone knowledgeable about this?



As they get ready to defend the Drell River, Duke Gareth is thrown from his horse and injured. Roger takes his place.
George comes to see Alanna off. He mentions that he might give up his work to settle down when Jon's king. But Alanna hears none of it. At the end of the chapter, the reach their new home for the time: Fort Drell.
